how 'bout just responding here...

I don't know the variety and you won't either until it starts producing pods but...I will venture to say that is an annuum...can you get comparative pictures between the leaves on the others you got from Hirts?

note: assuming the scotch bonnets you bought were supposed to be chinense

well if it turns out to be a hybrid
im naming it after my self!

If any of you would like this variety
let me know. This plant has turned into a small tree...

It has a ton of green chilis on it.

one of them even turned chocolate color when it matured.
I wish i would have not let a friend eat it...........
I could have bred a whole new chili.

jack I got plenty of pods. right now they're all green so they blend in with the leaves.

You're eating green (unripe) annuum chiles and you think they're picante.......something is very wrong here.

I ate them when thier red.

when thier green they're at thier mildest.

This plant could very well be half Scotch bonnet, but what the other parent plant is I have no idea.

I had 2 plants grow from thai chili seeds

but when both started producing fruit, the chilis looked different.

Im working on comming up with a name for my plant if it turns out to be a new breed of chili. I am going to preserve this one.

It some what resembles a heart or an ACe like the ace of spades.

I have had many fresh from the Mesilla Valley pimentos in my life and none ever had any heat. Very sweet and meaty pepper.

It doesn't show any C. chinense qualities, so even if was crossed with a C. chinense, the genes are obviously not manifested. I have not yet stumbled upon a C. annuum hotter than a Habanero.
