They have been outside for the past 12 days and this started a couple days ago. Doesn't seem to get worse though.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a Caterpillar did it.
The large mass of leaf missing, the circular cuts, and the chucks taken out all at indicative of a caterpillar.
I have seen earwigs leave similar marks, but very rarely do they "cut" the plant in circles.
