overwintering Winter Question from a new grower

Hey Guys,

So my garden is in full swing right now, seedlings being hardened off, teh super hots starting to look menacing and the Jalapeno's are jumping at the chance to be turned into salso.

My question for later this year.

The peppers are perrenials, but how many sub freezing (like 25-28 degrees) days can the plant take before getting killed?

I live in California, SF Bay Area where it rarely gets below freezing, except my little Valley micro-climate.  I get between 5 - 10 days a winter that dip just below freezing.  Most of the time its in the 35-40 degree range.

Let me know!

Thanks,

If in the ground, you can cover the plants with a few tarps. They should be able to survive a few days of 20's temps. If in pots bring as many as you can inside. If you dont cover them at first frost they would probably be gonners
