Wood Ash

Hey all, hopefully everyone is having a sucessful start to the season. Anyway i create a good amount of wood ash (mostly hard wood, oak, walnut etc..) from my wood stove during the winter and was wondering if it would be beneficial in a potting mix? I don't really have a garden plot to mix it into.

You just need to be careful of the effect it has on the pH of the potting soil. I use it in my garden for the calcium content. There are a lot of online resources for nutrient content of wood ash. This is a pretty good one:

It is my understanding that most peppers like a pH around 6 - 6.8 which is slightly acidic (neutral is 7).
