It also has a way making you appreciate the few things that you do have.

What's your parameter for "poor people"?

I come home sweating and stinking to high heaven every day, but,I make a fair living and I sleep well each night.
I may not have a fancy truck(it gets me from A to B and is in good shape which is fine by me) or the latest gizmo, but,I have enough to give my family a comfortable life, and, that's better than any amount of riches.

you know what a certified welder pipe fitter makes?
Well, I had a whole lot of comments, but now it's not so relevant. Y'all pretty much said it.
My Dad was a Union Worker at a Shell Oil Refinery, I remember the strikes, Dad working the graveyard shift at the lumber mill in Sedro Woolley while on strike from the refinery in Anacortes. Husband is IBEW union electrician. BTW, side note...the main reason we have a safe electrical grid and electrical code right now is because of the the first electricians who were being killed at an alarming rate and formed a brotherhood...
Being self employed has it's ups and downs. I'm counting the fact that I can drink a beer while applying labels to salsa tubs or bottles as a plus. There is no parameter for ever having drinking being a part of electrical work.
BUT!!! I can decide what time to go to work and if I wanna knock off early so I can stop by Scovie and CJ's place for a cold one on a Tuesday at 2pm!!!
