Yeah I hate it too, but there is one that doesn't produce peas so I will get that one again.

Thanks for that info, this one sounds like the way to go Garden Worm Bomb - 1000 MIXED Gardeners Friend and Indian Blue Worm Eggs $25.00 , however as the soil doesn't compose of much organic matter I don't know how they would do. For $25 its worth a shot. Also got to put an order in for my predatory bugs soon, noticing aphids and even found a red mealy bug (think thats what it is will have to check) I have them on my citrus trees along with scale but it has been to hard to spray them because of the bees around or the weather is too hot.

Ok I have got my buckets all sorted for my next repotting pahse but thought I would ask a question first.

All of these holes are approximately 1cm (10mm) wide and as you can see I have them placed quite regularly over the bottom of the buckets (melted in by the way of a the end of a hot glue gun nozzle.)

Do you think this will give them enough drainage/aeration ??

Or is it worth doing another round of holes a little higher up again??

looks like enough to me.
I tried growing chilli plants in washing machine barrels before cos heard of others growing herbs etc in it. Way too many holes though. The water just came out everywhere and didn't get to the roots enough

Trippa I drilled holes in those same buckets. If the bucket is on a flat surface, or a soft one like grass, the bottom holes will be sealed by the ring. I used a spade bit and put the holes right on the ring but it wasn't enough on grass. Now they are elevated on a metal rack so the air circulates all under them. I only put side ones around the bottom corner too not way up the sides, I was just trying to copy what all regular pots look like with their holes.
I think how you've done it is fine as long as the bucket isn't sitting on flat ground.

I am finally home after 3 months working away up north. I am only home until tomorrow then away for 2 more weeks the yeehaa home for 10 days.
I needed to work for so long to get the bank off my back after the last couple of years of being ill my mortgage was looking a little sad but hopefully I have staved off the bank and can get on with
the serious business of chilli growing.
22900 mixed chilli plants ready for planting. I am planting 20000 in the garden and 2900 are getting potted for sale.
I am seriously thinking of doing a "pick your own chillies" system where prospective buyers can come out and well >Pick their own" at a reduced rate. That way I dont have to pay pickers so I can offer a
cheaper rate. What do you guys think.??
I know I promised a few people seeds but I just havent had a chance to send them, they are all bagged up and waiting to go and I will have to get them sent off within the next few days.
So please be patient, not in time for this season but definately ready for next.

They dry out to fast in our heat if they are elevated.

shit what are you going to do with that many?
I will be selling them to whoever wants em, we can send them east too but IGA want a heap and I'm sure I will find a few sauce makers and of course use some myself.
That should bring the price down a bit from the rediculous prices that were charged last year.

Yup OMG Moo

Thats good IGA are taking you on.
So do they have to be sprayed with chemicals / funigated to go over east?

No, they just have to be checked by Ag Dept Quarantine and kept in cold storage. We don't have a lot of the bugs and diseases over here that the east has got. Only place I cant send em to is Tassie.

Good luck Marc,

I might be in need of some pods for my sauces.....keep me in mind.

Sure thing Grant, I will let you know when they are ready.
