beer-brewing Where to get Hops Rhizomes

ive bought and grown my own for the past 2 years

2 vines of Hallertau go up my house every year

I get them from Hop Union though through a wholesale account

My grandma has a huge vine there at her house that I pick every year. I still havent gotten around to getting some planted at my house. Im not sure what variety they are, but the cones can get up to 3 inches and you want to take a nap after picking. I asked my uncle and he said he didnt know the variety either. But he did take a dry one put it in his pipe smoked it and said, "now thats how you can measure the relaxational properties, after all do you know what their closest relative is?" Anyway, you can get the seeds on line, I think Tradewinds had em for pretty cheap.

You don't want hop seeds as there is no garentee that the plants will be female. And like you said,"Know what their closest relative is?" Male plants produce no cones. Rhizomes are cheap and you know what you are getting.

i got mine from freshops online. cascade, centennial, and crystal... cascade is far and away the most vigorous of the 3 here in virginia... i could dig and sell some rhizomes if anyone is interested...
