Lookin' good for sure.Do you think it's a big advantage soaking the seeds before sowing?I bought the same heat mats and regulator as you are using,but was going to just put them in damp soil and in a mini greenhouse set up.Is there anything you add to the water when you soak?

Hey Brandon,
Way to go, I can see that it's going to be a serious grow, very meticulous I might add!
Nice list of varieties, no doubt your grows going to be a "Super.............Hot" one.
That helps alot having a greenhouse to work with. Believe me having one here in Chicago would knock off a couple of weeks in the spring.......wish I had one.................

Well organized and looks really nice. I knew you we're going to go over the 200 mark with all though species you wanted to grow. What are you using to insulate underneath the propagation mats? I find that they run much more efficient and maintain temps better when insulated properly. Will you be using the family green house? That makes all the difference which enables you to extend the season at both ends.

You know I'll be watching and cheering buddy!!

Hey hawk, Well I don't know about a BIG advantage but it sure does speed up the process.. I did a bunch of trial n error seeds early this year so I knew what worked and didn't, one of the trials was soaking vs not soaking, A bhut seed took 5-6 days soaked before planting, 14-15 not soaked before. I have heard of things you can add to the water.. but IMO plain ol water works just fine. Moral of the story though your gonna have em pop with that setup soaked or not though

Thanks Greg! yep gonna be my first BIG grow, I've done 40 plants, never 250 lol. My co worker has a friend that lives in your area. You guys sure do have some bipolar weather just like us, hell it might even be worse in your area. My plants set up camp in my GH's for most of our spring, unless it's a nice sunny spring.. and I don't remember what those are like anymore lol. I'll have the photos flowing don't worry about that

Hey Jack! thanks for stopping by my friend! Yep you were right lol. I'm gonna end up taking over the house before plant out time, My wife was lookin at me while I was doing this with a disgruntled look n said " so uh.... where uh.. where ya gonna be putting all these.. peppers of yours?" lol. I'll find a way. :hell:

I remembered your advice about the insulating, I actually just used thick cardboard from my work to put underneath, temps are keeping pretty stable with that under them, thanks again for that tip! I actually bought 2 10X8 greenhouses last spring for this purpose, I'll be using those through the beginning and wettest part of our spring, I also have shade cloth for them so I'm wondering if that'll help out hardening off at first. Thanks for the kind words, were over due for a phone convo I'm pretty sure! Hope all is well with you and your family Jack.

Thanks Ann! hahah I wish! I think It was more like 2hrs, and a six back during so I didn't lose my mind and a six pack after to relax lol. Thanks for watching, I hope all is good with you guys

Thank you! Yeah its mind boggling to me as well, I figured I'd try something different this year, I always grow 40 plants of pretty much the same thing every year, I was a bit bored with that last year so I'm spicin this year up a bit,no pun intended :lol:

Besides, I still will have my not so super favorites that I'm overwintering. I'll be set like cement I'm hoping.

Hey Brandon,

I use the germ. mats also, two different types. As odd as it sounds, I place a towel (bath) over the mats, under the flats. It helps buffer the hot spots from the mats.

Nice going Brandon! You're going to make team Pacific NW proud. I really appreciate your organizational skills and postings. Being a Snoob (second year noob) I can never get enough detail to help my garden brain along. You and PIC 1 Greg do think alike, and have some nice ideas.

I plan to pre-soak seeds also. I mostly used baggies/coffee filters to start last year and may use them this year but only to pre-soak. I'll probably go 2 or 3 days in the baggies, then into the medium prior to sprouts. I'm gonna try the Hoffmans mix also. And the 72-cell flats for starters. It's great to see confirmation on some of my own plans.... :cool:

Excellent start Brandon! I am very impressed how organized and well thought out everything is so far. What a great start. One of the biggest mistakes I made last year was to use any and every size and shape pot I could find for the seedling's first transplant. This resulted in WAY too much time organizing and trying to make them fit under the lights. I am excited to watch and learn from your growlog.

Have you seen the thread or been contacted about the NW Chilefest in September?

And dining room tables are overrated. They work much better as a garden center. Ah well, it's only for a couple months. If worse comes to worst, Mrs. BigCedar can get a break from the dishes and y'all can eat off of paper plates for a while.

chileaddict, that is a good point about all the different pot shapes. Uniformity helps a lot.

That's a great idea Greg. I noticed something this morning.. Out of curiosity I wanted to lay my hands on the mats and see how much heat they were putting out to keep everything at 83.. They weren't. They were room temp. I have only 1 flat without a thermo control, it's lifted up above the mat but it was indeed warm unlike the other 3 which means my HO T5s, and the fact they are all in a small closet for now is literally keeping the temp almost perfect with little to no heat from the mats. Crazy!

Thank you! I thought it would be cool to post alot of the "details" of what I'm doing.. I don't see that on too many growlogs, it's kinda like here's my seedlings, here's my young plants, here's my big plants, here's a sh*tload of pods lol. which is fine! I just thought I'd get in depth with it

Thank you! My wife? well.. Shes alot like your wife. lol. She puts up with me when I make her go on "pepper tours" in the summer time to check everything out but she's just humoring me lol.. She actually came up with a good comparision, she said to me.. "It's like you with make-up.. You don't wanna talk to me about nail polish, blush, and the latest n greatest eye liner for hours on end do ya?" And that.. Was a pretty damn good point in my book haha. As for taking over part of our kitchen n closet for a couple months? I pay the bills. Our family and my chile babies.. We can all live together in harmony for a little while. :lol:

Thank you Richard! I have a tendency to do that with everything I do in life.. I have every detail planned before I start.. A plan B,C,D,E and F as back up plans :lol:

People poke fun bc it's almost OCD like, but.. I always get the results I set out to get

. I saw that problem you stated being a problem this summer when i started planning my big grow.. I set out to make sure it didn't, sure helps working at a produce/nursery, We throw ALOT of starter plants away with the pots they come in. I spent my summer making sure I was the one to throw the bad plants away.. I kept all the starter pots that fit perfectly in flats. got a good 300 in the garage ready to roll! Not only that but any large potted plant that needed to be thrown.. kept those pots too

250 of those waiting for plants in my garage as well. You need to make a GL yourself this coming year! Your photo skills are off the chart, and you sure sounded like you had a great year this year!

Thanks Chris! sure do appreciate that coming from you my friend. I will tell you though.. That obession your talking about? Yep.. There's a few stand out people to blame.. One of those people.. YEP. That'd be you! lol. I think after joining THP.. I definitely crossed that line.. There's just way too much out there and I couldn't just grow some of them.. I have to have em all! :lol:
