drying What is the best dehydrator to use.

I'm new here and wanted to make some pepper powder. I want to get some reviews on which Dehydrator I should purchase I also would like to know what type of mill I should use.

definitely look for one that can go down to 95F. Dryi8ng at 100-105F will keep the pod's color nice and bright. Higher temps will darken the pods but they will dry faster.

There's already a couple threads (probably in this thread) with extended discussions of different brands. Might find some more detailed info there.

Have Fun!

What is best for you depends upon your personal circumstances as well as the dehydrator itself, such as how many pods you will be drying at a time and how much you can afford. I purchased a Nesco dehydrator (the square one) last year as my first dehydrator, and had 48 pepper plants. I did wish I had ordered extra trays last year. This year, however, I only had 24 plants, and didn't have nearly as many pods to dry, so the number of trays that came with it were fine. I chose the Nesco because of it's affordability, it's expansion ability (if you purchase more trays), and because of the temperature control (which does go down to 95F.) It was a good choice for me. You can also get inserts to go with it for making things like fruit rollups and jerky, if that interests you. You should be aware it does not have an on/off switch, so you plug it in to turn it on, and unplug it to turn it off. I understand they may have stopped shipping instructions (or the person I spoke with just got a box without them), so you should also be aware that you should never use it with less than 4 trays - run it with empty trays if needed. (The instructions are available online, regardless.) I don't know if other brands have an on/off switch, but that wasn't an important thing for me. I like it enough to say that unless I ever end up with more than 48 plants (unlikely), I will definitely buy another Nesco when this one dies.

you could always DIY a cool dehydrator...
