So are those the wood chips in the middle surrounding the heating element? Does the wood get wet at anytime? If that is the heating element in the middle, is it the only one?
 
When I first saw the thread title, I was thinking you had found something just as ingenious as your famous crockpot gumbo :rofl: , but now that I read the thread, this is pretty cool.
 
With the noticeable lack of bark, I bet this would work really well for pulled pork type dishes.

Yeah Meathead, in the winter it gets dark at 3:00 so grilling gets cut waaaay down. That's just about all we cook on all summer but when it's dark and 3º, I am usually indoors.
