Weston dehydrators, Any one using one more specifically this one?

Don't get me wrong, our convection oven works great but no one can stand the kitchen when I start drying peppers.

I have a 5 tray Weston Dehydrator been using since last season, it is blacl and the unit is square.  I like it better than my 4 tray Nesco because I can set a timer and the heat temp goes a bit higher but I dont usually dry anything above 150F

Sorry I dont have any experience with this massive Weston unit you are linking too.  I wish my grow was that big that I needed one like that!  lol

cheers!

If that's the style you like you may not need such a large one, have you seen this? http://www.cabelas.com/product/CABELAS-L-COMMERCIAL-FOOD-DEHYDRATOR/2339805.uts?productVariantId=5012887&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04697254&rid=20&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgpGIsM_K1gIVyGB-Ch2BsQJfEAQYAiABEgLVRfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I figure you are going for that style because of the fumes, and it should help since the front closes like a fridge, but not sure if it escapes from anywhere else. Cap is sneaky. I'm not sure who has one here, maybe JHP?

I have as close to thoroughly as I can reviewed the dehydrators mentioned in this thread as well as a few others. I feel the Weston I initially inquired about will best suit my needs and requirements. Thanks to all involved for all the input and recommendations.

Let us know bro! Watch it have an exhaust fan that blows the cap all over the house.

Probably does. Will be easier to vent than the household oven though. May have to take it down stairs as an air freshener to the grow room.

I use what the weed growers use, carbon filtration system that vents out duct work hahaha - I suggest that for those commercial ones, won't fix everything but helps very much

will keep the dogs at bay anyway.

Patience continues to pay off. This just went down to $414.96.

My dad use to use the one THP linked and it was a beast. Can only imagine what the big brother is capable of!!!

One of the problems I have with store name appliances is someone else makes them, that may be good or it may be bad. I cannot verify who that is in this case.
Whereas I have good experience with Weston products.

Dude you never know who makes what. Just looked it up Hamilton Beach makes Weston. ;)

The time has almost finally arrived! The damn thing ships freight so I have to be here to receive it and check it over for damage. That being the case, The only good time to order it is the week of Thanksgiving. Being a holiday week and taking a vacation day doesn't affect the paycheck as much as a vacation day on a normal full work week. So, It should be here Nov 21st or 22nd.
Damn, drooling just thinking about burning chocolate flavored venison jerky.

While I have not reviewed the dehydrators mentioned, I am posting a link to the one I use...It is an excalabur with nine trays. plug and play...all accessories included...

And it sit on  my back porch under the awning to keep fumes out of the house..the exact one I use is the one on sale today it says...

Thx for the feedback. I did take a look at it. I hope that your sharing the info may aid in someone else reading this thread to make a more educated decision in acquiring a dehyrator. I however have pretty much made up my mind and am committed as such.

I was amused at reading the positive feed back from purchasing customers though. Ian I find this difficult to believe, but you be the judge.

"The service from Harvest Essentials was terrific. The dehydrator cam quickly and saved us as!! We dried 500 pounds of juicy pears in only days!! Great product. Love it."

Well, I placed the order last night about 6:30 and got a text message this morning at 5:22 indicating it had shipped.
I also added a last minute item that will aid immensely in producing some consistent quality spicy jerky.
Among other things

It is here! Delivery wasn't to take place til Monday at the earliest so when the trucking co called to set up an appointment to deliver it. One thing led to another and the receptionist asked if it was something I couldn't pick up. Why no, if that is an option was my reply. So we did.

What a Beast!! definitely not you run of the mill plastic counter top model.

Already planning on a massive wash down and a trial run with probably 15-20 lbs of venison this weekend. And yes, some spiced up with CHOCOLATE.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The next pics you see of these units, will be with them loaded down with venison and beef. And at some point next year. Nuclear nugets.
