PaulG 2019

No grow log for the 2018 season other than the Pimenta de Neyde x Bonda Ma Jacques
thread dedicated to Trippa's cross. That one is an ongoing community project going into
second year and a test of the F7 generation. I imagine I will mention it once-in-a-while in
this thread, but the details of its progress will be in the dedicated thread.

I am deciding on a grow list for the 2019 season after growing only Trippa's cross this
season (2018). I definitely have some old favorites that will comprise the great majority
of the grow. I have limited space, so I'm counting on nature to help me make the final
decision. I'll probably start lots of seeds since I'm gun-shy from the poor germination
rates the past couple of seasons.

Here's the pool. Would be nice to be able to grow a bunch of all of them!  I think my
neighbor will shelter the overflow in his yard, but we'll see what to plant and how many
based on what might germinate

c. chinese - 10 varieties
  • PdN x BMJ, F7, white and violet varieties, Trippa's cross
  • Fatali, F2 of seed from Pepper Joe's
  • 7 Pot Burgundy, brown phenotype, pecan shape from 2017 F2 of the 7PB from Windchicken
  • Scotch Bonnet, MoA, F2 of seeds from John/Sim, not high production, but some nice pods
  • JA Red Habanero, F5 of seed from Walk Good/Devv
  • Yellow Scorpion, F7 aka Yellow Trinidad Moruga Scorpion and CARDI Scorpion, from Spankycolts plant 2012
  • Bhut Jolokia, Red, F4, from Spankycolts plant 2012
  • Bhut Jolokia, Chocolate, F3 of seed from Georgia Growhead
  • Bhut Jolokia, hybrid, F2 - I believe it is a  (BJred) x (Pdn x BMJ F1 or F2)
  • Yellow 7 Pot, F2 of seed from Trippa 2013
c. annuum - 4 varieties:
  • JA Red Mushroom, F3, brown phenotype, seed from Refining Fire
  • Pimenta de Padron - Spanish seed, fry up while small and green, throw on some salt
  • Pimenta del Piquillo - Spanish seed, sweet, very flavorful, small stuffers
  • Guindilla - Spanish seed, spicy heat, great pickled, long and skinny
c. frutescens - 2 varieties:
  • Nagahari from Tezpur, India, supposedly very, very hot freebie from Pepper Joe's 2017
  • Chili Costa Rica, F2 (2014) from Hippy Seed Company seed, 2012
c. pubescens - 1 variety:
  • Red Rocoto, F3 of Peruvian Market seed, 2016
That about does it. Seeding time will be here before we know it!

Wow Mistah G., you are certainly setting a pace....of sorts. I remember starting Aji Amarillo seed from you two Novembers ago, what I found to be a fool's errand yet produced a good number of plants, 2 of which thrive today. I still thank you often for those seeds.

A woundrous, prolific season to you sir!

A woundrous, prolific season to you sir!   Back at ya, brothah
I wouldn't say I was setting the pace until I actually do something

You have done a great job with those Aji Amarillo. Eric!
I hope you get a bunch of pods off of them next season,
they are so awesome!

Hey there Paul, its been a very long time since I've been active on here. Hows the weather right now in your town? Great list of varieties for next season btw.
James! Great to see you on the grow log forum, my friend!
It has been awhile.

Weather here is turning hard toward Autumn.
We had a very dry November, just now getting some sprinkles.
Otherwise, a really good grow season, weather-wise.

I hope Clovis isn't in the area devastated by the California fires,
and that you and your family are okay.

Are you planning a grow/log this season? Whatever the case,
please don't be a stranger.

Well Paul I no longer live in Clovis, I now live in Tulare due to some unforseen issues in my life. (Divorce) I currently have some plants from last years grow that I purchased from Jim Duffy as plugs. Still looking to move into a place that has some kind of land so I can do what I enjoy the most which is grow a garden and sit back and watch the sunset besides fishing and hunting of course.

Sorry to hear, James. I have to say kudos for your attitude.

I hope you find a place to do just that,  my friend.

As cool as that cross is, it must be liberating to be looking at a fresh season with all those options. :)

It will be. I have missed growing some of the varieties.

I will be happy with whatever I get from these seeds.
They all have great genetics / phenotypes. We'll see
what comes out of the spanish seeds.  I've had decent
luck with them in the past.

Paul, I'm in a better place now and I have a wonderful girlfriend that is loving and caring and enjoys what I do as well so its a bonus really. Looking forward to watching your plants grow and develope into some monsters over the up and coming months.

Excellent variety indeed. I grew them this year. Ate all pods fresh from the plant :)

Plant does resist the cold quite well also. But that's probably not an issue for you :)

That is really good to hear, James. Life is good with a great partner
I hope you are able to grow lots of peppers. She likes peppers, right?

Hope to see more of you in the upcoming season, my friend!

Our freezing weather doesn't really start until November or thereabouts,
so we get a decent grow season. If June weather was better, we would
have a super grow season.  May is usually decent, then June gets cold
and rainy, at least lately.

We had piquillo stuffed with ground lamb with a great sauce in Spain. It
was simply wonderful. I was wishing for some of my smoked habanero
powder!

Good luck this season Paul.

I always enjoy your grow; I'm thinking you have 10 green thumbs ;)
Thanks, brother! I have to do something to get out of the
 Germination Blues. Ba-baa-ba-bump  .

Of 14 in the AeroGarden, one germinated.
Helmet head.
Lost cotyledon tips.
Still growing.

Been 16 days, but still waiting.
Hope this not everybody's experience when
things get rolling.

Hope your PdN x BMJ germinate for you

I hope my AeroGarden is better. Good luck on the rest of your seeds
Thanks, Aravind.

I'm counting on the seeds on the heating mat to pull through,
only 5 days in the germinators, so far.  Last season, the hooks
emerged in 10-16 days.
   Sending good vibes your way for great germination
in your AeroGarden!

Edit: moved apart of entry to PdN x BMJ grow Log.

Thanks, Shane! Hope something interesting
happens here this season!

Are you growing this year? Wondering if you
are back in Poway or not
