23 March 2017 - 07:55 PM

Just made my first batch of Chilli Pickled egg's for the day and 3 more to make.
10 eggs per jar, I have starting using smaller sized egg's as the Pickling spice penetrates the eggs quicker.

Vinegar used -- White and Apple Cider.
Pickling spice used -- Mustard Seed, Whole Allspice Pimento , Coriander Seed , Cloves , Bay Leaves , Cinnamon Sticks , Salt  and of course Chilli to taste
Let the waiting begin !

Latte Art.

26 February 2017 - 05:57 PM

After pouring this mornings Latte and seeing the image of a "skull wearing a hat with an arrow through it's nose " in the Crema, i thought it would make a sorta fun thread to start for members to post picts of their Latte Art/images

Pube Or Frutescens?

25 February 2017 - 11:02 PM

Is anyone able to ID this for me please?...This is supposed to be my Rocoto plant i posted in another topic that has now started to fruit.

I germinated the "Rocoto" seed under lights along side some "Bangalore Torpedo Chilli" (C. Frutescens)seeds but the Bangalore's never even made it outside. I germinated no other Pube's this season.

As you can see the plant has masses of violet/purple flowers on, the leaves are very smooth, shiny and are hairless, they are almost identical if not identical to my Thai's except the new growth on the "Pube" has patches of Purple on with the branches very vine like.

The friuts are long and very slender tapering to quite a sharp point, they emerge dark purple almost turning black in colour.

Thanks.

Rocoto Advice.

21 February 2017 - 12:47 AM

G'day fellow chilli-heads, i'm looking for some advice on my 1st time grown Rocoto (grown in 7 Gal/26Ltr pot) as it has just plain refused to give me any pods, i'm getting desperate as if it doesnt hurry up and produce it will be too late in the season for them to mature. Everything else grown around it is starting to pod up nice, my 3 over wintered reapers are doing well, my Thai's and Rooster Spur is doing well and my Sugar Rush Peach is starting to take off . All are in the same potting mix and have the same feed, = Osmocote for Veg ...then when they started to flower a fortnightly supplement feed of Potash and a half strenght feed of Powerfeed with a monthly spray of Epsoms. I even planted a few Sunflowers around it to attrack more pollinating insects and still nothing.

Also...are  they fussy with PH. ?

Any advice greatly appreciated,

cheers.

First 3 are of the Rocoto
