In Topic: First attempt at Kratky

I didn't know there were different types of Kratky. I thought it was just water and nutrients in a large container with a net-pot set into the container lid.

Your description is the traditional Kratky that I have been doing for about 5 years now. There should be no media other than in the net pot.

My bad. That was my Hempy grow.

I had some fun with kratky last season and easiest I found was those cheap laundry tubs with the handles. Mine was a 40ltr from memory. Drilled a hole about 5cm from the bottom. Filled the bottom with course perlite to around 7cm. On top a layer of coir matting (like they use in hanging baskets) and filled up with coco coir to an inch shy of the top. The cat really took a fancy to it so I had to cut a polystyrene lid that I put on the coir. This really helped with moisture balance as the top stayed relatively moist until I watered again which was around every second week. Crops werent great but were weeks ahead of any other plant in soil I had of the same type.

I'll do the picture update when I get a chance, but for now here is the leader board and my winter weigh in.

Welcome to all new weigh ins and hurrah to Devv for breaking 1kg

If I've missed someone or forgotten to add a weigh in let me know

Still going pretty slow for some reason.

Last year I used a custom mix and this year I'm trying a good quality soil with perlite added.

Growth this year not as good for sure.

Second photo is a MOA Scotch Bonnet - Do you think it's sunburn perhaps (I have a number of different varieties doing the same thing).
