Sliced ketchup

18 April 2018 - 06:47 PM

So "sliced ketchup" popped up on my news feed today. Apparently it's the next big thing. No muss.. no fuss.. no mess.. no refrigeration.. it's sauceless sauce!

I'm thinking that sammich is gonna be awful dry with sauceless sauce.

The pic reminded me of that "squeeze bacon" meme.

Tradewinds Fruit

13 April 2018 - 09:51 PM

Tradewindsfruit.com got a mention from keybrdkid in the Miracle Fruit thread so I had to pop over to their website to take a look. I ended up ogling their selection for an hour.. maybe two. They carry an amazing selection of exotic just plain neat stuff. I had to restrain myself to avoid buying things that i most likely would kill .. (unsuitable to my location!) Anyway they sent the seeds packed nicely and super quick plus I got a pack of bonus tomato seeds. Definitely give them two thumbs up.

St Paddy's Day

27 February 2018 - 07:38 PM

Might as well begin the planning and scheming for the next holiday! St Patrick's Day will soon be upon us.

Every year I normally do corned beef and cabbage but this year I think I will switch it up and make cottage pie.. (shepherd's pie with beef rather than lamb). What's everyone else going to do? I mean, aside from green beer?

Miracle fruit

18 February 2018 - 08:23 PM

A couple of years ago I tried growing miracle fruit from some seeds I purchased online. I suspect the package was irradiated as nothing ever sprouted.

This weekend at the flea market/farmers market a vendor had all kinds of exotic wonderful trees including my sought after miracle fruit!

Anyone else growing one of these? Excited for this to have fruit, I'll buy a bunch of limes and go to town!

Szchechuan peppercorns

27 January 2018 - 02:45 PM

Just curious how many folks here have tried or cook with Szchechuan peppercorns and their thoughts regarding them. Never tried them myself.. for a while they were not allowed to be imported into America and I have yet to see them at the local grocer.
