Topics I've Started

1st AACT

13 May 2018 - 02:17 PM

I am prepping for my 1st attempt at AACT. I have a few ingredients in the mail yet.

1st question that comes to mind is, is it beneficial to put the most air possible into the tea to hyper stimulate the aerobic bacteria or does it not matter at a certain point? I am contemplating the use of a 20 gal brute trash can and a linear piston pump for my air source. And before anyone asks. No, I did not purchase the pump for this application. I have had one sitting around collecting age and may have found a use for it, or not.

Got a few books on order relating to the above as well but the picking of brains has its advantages as well.

I heard RO water is not recommended for AACT. Any truth to this and if so, why?

Reveiw of my 1st batch of spicy venison jerky by Johnny Scoville

08 April 2018 - 09:10 PM

I just came across this a couple weeks ago. I had posted on FB that I was making some spicy venison jerky and Johnny requested that I send him some. I didn't have time to marinate it like I wanted to but did so with chocolate Primo and Bhutlah DM flakes for about an hour.

Seed Train opinions and feedback

17 December 2017 - 11:46 PM

With the conclusion of the final train imminently approaching, I am curious about participants opinions. After all, I certainly dont conduct these for my health and I contribute far more seed than I ever remove. So it must be my obsession of spreading the variety of taste and heat where ever possible.

At times I have found it questionable whether it was really worth it and whether or not to continue, especially after the great train robbery 2 years back.

So this is basically a chance to offer opinions as well as criticism of the train and or trains you may have participated in. Since the 1st one I have basically taken a model that was already running and built from that. Rules and procedures were modified as an in progress process to what is running today.

APHIDS!

30 November 2017 - 10:54 PM

So, it has come to this.

What follows will undoubtedly have some of you shaking your heads in disbelief and I really couldn't blame you.

I would gladly take an aphid infestation off someones hands right now.

Yes, you read correctly. If someone showed up on my doorstep with a plant melting from aphids. I would gladly take it right down to my grow room.

To anyone who has read any of my aphid threads 2 and 3 years ago would think I tossed a head gasket or threw a rod. I just witnessed a small infestation that was growing get annihilated and I didn't even lift a finger. Way better than lady bugs and lady bug larvae, Azamax or Pyrethrum or even Guardian.

Moldy pods

05 November 2017 - 04:30 PM

I have gotten them, I know anyone else who has contact with moderate volumes of pods has also gotten them.

I myself generally toss them without a second thought. anyone else?

Are they really not good or just a figment of our imagination. what about volume producers? I am certain they do not go through every pod of the thousands they work with to assure no pods with mold get through. And if they dry them for flake or powder in tact, they would never know, or would you.

I could go on and on but this is one of those domino subjects that could get pretty grotesque.
