Topics I've Started

Moldy pods

05 November 2017 - 04:30 PM

I have gotten them, I know anyone else who has contact with moderate volumes of pods has also gotten them.

I myself generally toss them without a second thought. anyone else?

Are they really not good or just a figment of our imagination. what about volume producers? I am certain they do not go through every pod of the thousands they work with to assure no pods with mold get through. And if they dry them for flake or powder in tact, they would never know, or would you.

I could go on and on but this is one of those domino subjects that could get pretty grotesque.

Chocolate ID

14 October 2017 - 04:30 PM

I am not even going to toss specific names into this as, just the mere mentioning of varieties taints the pool of your seasoned theories. I came home from work last week and a nice box of mostly chocolate peppers was waiting for me. Among them was this group that I have segregated for possible seed extraction.

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it" is to reply what these look like to you.

Chili meet

08 October 2017 - 12:51 PM

I mentioned this some time back and it seemed to get a favorable response. So, I am going to throw it out again and based on the feedback I will determine whether or not to seriously pursue it.

There are a lot of chiliheads/ chili cultivars in the Midwest. We know many of them from our contacts through the forum, but only by their typing ability.

I am curious as to who might be interested in attending an event if I can put it together.

This is only ground floor planning at this point and everything is susceptible to implementation and or change.

I have for a few years been interested in promoting a chili fest, this may be the cornerstone in that progression.

ISO or Isolation specific

07 October 2017 - 02:43 PM

Hopefully this thread can stay on course and not inadvertently stray from topic. Next season I an going to attempt to implement some isolation strategies. One of which will be gluing the flowers shut prior to them opening. The other unfortunately is an added expense. I will have to construct some form of plant isolation nets. It is here that questions are sure to emerge.  What is the most suitable netting for this purpose and where can it be acquired. Or is standard netting from fabric shops carry.

What attempts and successes or failures have other members tried?

CAPCOMS COCOA GROW 2018

01 October 2017 - 05:42 PM

Yes, I am so interested in putting 2017 behind that I am looking forward to 2018 this much.

I will be throwing a knuckle ball going into 2018.

I am procuring seed from reliable sources only and will be implementing various isolation methods as to continue a sound seed stock for future seasons.

I am also going to visit several chili head bros beginning this fall and spend some quality time talking the shop we all enjoy.

I will also be looking into some new nitrification processes as the one I have been using the past two years has let me down big time.

I will also be cutting back for the first time on my grow quantities. If I end up with 50 plants, that will be a lot! And all plants will be grown in 15 gal pots minimum.

Starting to formulate my list with,

Judys Brown Moruga

Bhutlah DM

Bhutlah SM

CPR from 2017

Chocolate Reaper

Chocolate Primo

Kracken Scorpion

7Pot Burgundy (the only non chocolate)

Chocolate MaddBalls

Chocolate Bhut

Chocolate Devils Tongue

Chocolate BBG

Chocolate Scorpion

Chocolate 7 Pot

Chocolate Fatalii

And that's just off the top of my head, I am sure more additions will follow.
