tsurrie's 2022 glog

Hey there. I'm just posting to let you know I'm still kicking, but with an even smaller grow.
Only nine pots this season, three of them are habanero (two Calita Red's and Red Savina - I think)
I got them in local nursery after all my seedlings stopped growing suddenly
I only managed to grow my own tomato plants this season and some cucumbers - will probably add the photos from the garden later this month, after some weeding :P

Red Savina? and Calita Red - looks like they'll grow some pods for me

the lineup - three on the right are habaneros

this one is annum and is a yellow variant of Chili As - good for pickling but reds are tastier

Good to see you posting @tsurrie. You may only have nine pots, but the plants look great! Bunches of pods are just around the corner for you.

Hey, Uros! Glad to see you on the board,
my friend. Sometimes I wish I only had
nine plants to take care of!

 Here's to a good season for you!

hey Paul. Thank you. Nine plants in pots but also two gardens of different veggies and everything else in everyday life.... i'm never bored you know
but i still need to check some glog's because I missed some...
 cheers to you too... may them grow big and full of pods!

@tsurrie - Your balcony grow looking great, Uros!

Nice. Selection of habanero. Some look like JA Reds,
others like Caribbeans. I have found the reds to be
quite hot, at least the JA Reds I have grown.

Keep up the good work, my friend!

Today's haul... judging by the plants there will be another one like this soon.

The ones on the left are Calita Red's and are very similar to the JA Reds. The ones on the right are Red Savina's. Both from the nursery and I'll save some seeds for next season. Both tasty, decent red habaneros with a strong punch.

Thank you Paul.

A little update on the garden - plenty of tomatoes to eat and process into sauce. Also managed to grow one middle sized watermelon and it was good. Wife is cooking Plum (blue) jam so we're slowly making stash for the winter :)

Red Savina's keeps em ripening, but I guess this will stop now because of the colder temps we're getting since massive raining last week

Round II.

Savinas on the picture are a little different from Calitas, which are more like classic red habaneros, similar aroma with maybe a little more kick

Your Red Savinas look great. Mine are just
beginning to ripen, but they look just like yours.
It's a real classic, alright.

After that massive raining it was quite of a mushroom rush over here in the woods... you could fall over and picked one even if you wouldn't wanna  Joking, but there was plenty if one would want to pick them.

I don't know if these are edible, they are just photogenic

but I picked these and they are mainly in my freezer waiting to become soup or a sidedish (sauce)

almost all were healthy and those are a joy to cut & store

Back to peppers. It's time for a round III. of drying and my pots are done for the season. Just a few habaneros left and I'll eat them fresh in the coming weeks. Winter temps are on he horizon, so I need to prep the garden soon.

Great season winding down there, Uros!
Enjoy the winter down time thinking about
next season!

Awesome fungi. What are those edible ones called?

Yes Paul, great season indeed and I only had 3 habanero plants. I did' not post any tomato pics this season, also plenty of those and I just managed to pull the plants from garden. Low temperatures approaching by the end of the week. This is it for this year.

Fungi is called penny bun (boletus edilus) - got that from wikipedia :halo:
Here we call them simply jurĨek or goban.

Wow beautiful mushrooms!

Thanks. They're tasty and have very nica aroma too. These and chanterelles are my favourite.

those shrooms cooked in garlic butter on toast - feast for a king
Need to try this, so you like just cook them with a slice of butter with garlic and spread it on a toast ?

If we're talking lunch, I like to make these into a sauce with some gnocchi or mashed potatoes, over a nice steak. It's a nice combo.

don't have a recipe as such it's just something I cook a lot
melt a good knob of butter in pain, low heat - when melted add crushed garlic, once you can smell garlic cooking (don't let it burn whatever you do) add mushrooms and cook on low heat until softened and mushroom juices are released.
Once soft and juicy pile onto toast with all the juices from the pan.
Pinch of pepper over the top or you can be really cheffy and add some chopped parsley at the end.
Course you could always add a pinch of chilli pepper :D
