I had ordered seeds of 11 different varieties from Jimmy Pickles on August 23, 2024. Then I had to remind him on October 04, 2024, November 18, 2024, November 30, 2024, and December 17, 2024. Finally, after 101 days (!), he shipped them on January 2, 2025 with a messed-up address, but thankfully, the seeds were delivered to the correct address on January 15, 2025. He did not include the ordered isolated Red Primotalii seeds, actually the main reason I was ordering from him. Also, the Habanada seeds contained a piece of dried fruit that was quite hot (Habanada is a heatless variety). MA Warthog Red, a Capsicum chinense that is a contender for the hottest pepper in the world, were the only seeds that I actually planted, but they turned out to be a Capsicum annuum! (Does anybody know, which variety? I have discarded all but one.)
It seems that I am not alone, many people have recently complained about receiving annuums and even baccatums instead of the ordered (superhot) chinenses. See here for a German thread:
https://chiliforum.hot-pain.de/thre...t-test-2025-superhots-oder-nur-paprika.44796/ (includes an ongoing experiment, which chinenses are actually annuums or baccatums...)
Also, there are quite a few posts on Instagram
as well as on Reddit
Who else got pickled?
How long did you have to wait? Did he reach out to you about possible mix-ups? What are your most surprising plants?
