container Anyone growing cayenne in containers?

Capsicum

Banned
I am happy with the results. They stay quite small maybe 2' tall. The plants are only in 2 gal pots fertilized with miracle gro all purpose, maxibloom, and botanicare pure blend. I use Maxibloom for the most part now it is really producing.

I see a lot of super hots, anyone have some nice cayenne? I can't wait for them to turn red!

Sweet Ceyenne in a 1/2 gallon container (I've been meaning to pot up....lol) It's only about 16 inches tall and has a few pods. This pod is twice the size now.

WOW! Awesome looking plants capsicum!

I starting to germinate some cayennes yesterday (winter here) which will be destined for containers. If mine end up looking anything like yours...I will be a very happy man indeed :P

i have one in a 3 gallon pot started late this season. its not to big but is doing very well with lots of peppers. my biggest problem is bugs. thripes and white flys are killing me its a constant battle.

We have 1 gal container grown cayenes........the pods are as big as the plant growth! (also curly in some cases) And yet they keep producing. Great looking plant you have there

I grew a cayenne in a pot two summers ago, which prompted me to grow several more last summer. I'm not growing any this year, though, as I still have plenty dried from last year and cayenne powder is readily available at most any grocery store. Mine were very prolific. They were in 3-gallon pots, up from the prior year, and grew much larger than the first one. I grew some purples in addition to the others, but I won't grow those again - the purples are very small, extremely seedy, and just not worth the hassle, IMO, especially when you can get a single huge cayenne off another plant and have much more volume than you get from an entire purple cayenne plant.

Hey lookin good.

Here is a top view of one of the bushes.

I may get about 1000 cayenne this year from the few bushes I have

Cayenne do just fine in pots in my experience. I had a whole bunch in cat litter buckets last year and they were loaded with pods.

The one that bothered me was supposedly the Ring of Fire cultivar, it grew to be nearly 5 feet tall but never, no matter how many times I moved it around the yard or hand-pollinated it, set a single pod.

I love cayenne's...they are very versatile and I haven't got a single one growing this year :(

they also have a variety called "Ristra Cayenne"....peppers get 10-12" long and are typical cayenne heat...

ty...the goldens are pretty good but I think I had rather have the super cayenne II hybrids....mass producers of 6-7 inch long pods about the size of a number 2 pencil...

i grew CAT YELLOW (Macskasarga) in 2011 it wasn't bad and it resembled Golden cayenne but not quite as hot and had a very slight citrus undertone, i save alot of seeds from it , i got the seeds in a trade from a fellow in Hungary
