Oktoberfest Hosky

Today at the local Try-N-Save they had sixers of Paulaner Octo.

YAY!

Got one of those and a sixer of Salvator.

Since I'm not drinking I will consider these hosky's as "for medicinal purposes".

I know it ain't the same as having it under the tent in Munich but this Paulaner Octo is way better than 99.99% of all that so called Okterberfest piss that is brewed and sold here in the US.

I remember drinking this stuff back in the early 80's when Brown Jug Warehouse in Anchorage was carrying it.

I know its not the same as drinking it in the "homeland".

Maybe due to pastuerization on imports back them, which I think they still do.

Stupid US laws.

Its not as toasted malty tasting as Spaten which I really dig.

Still, its pretty damn guud!

Oh, and its guud "medicine"!

TB, could be because it's being produced under license somewhere on this side of the pond. Not having the actual German Ingredients makes a big difference. Just try baking a really good true Brochen. Just not the same grain

Uhm no way they are doing that.

That was a FAIL experiment before when Miller tried doing that with Lowenbrau.

I am drinking the German Lager that comes in the Kirkland "Ales" case from Costco. It has a Pale Ale, IPA, Amber Ale and the Lager.
Not bad for $20 a case!

Thomas Hooker OktoberFest Lager- believe this is mostly found in CT its very good
BluePoint OktoberFest - Im up for these this evening
Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest

I'm hasin a Brooklyn Oktoberfest... and that's for real. As a matter of fact. This is my 6th one.

AFter 6 I can say. That for sure. Brooklyn okytoberfest is tastey. I will mist when this season is over

- Okay - went to the stoh today...and looked specifically for "Octoberfest" beer.
There was a poser by Widmer..."Okto Beer" reminded me of that chick that birthed too many babies at once & I got queebd out.....

My only two other options were:
Sam Adams...and Pyramid.

RM said he was enjoying the Sam's, so I'll get some of that?
I just can't imagine Pyramid's OctoberFest being that great....they seem to have a flavor for every month, but specialize in none....just MO...which is worth notsomuch!

Thoughts?

I have never had Pyramids before, but given those two choices I'd be all over that Sam's o'fest.

I honestly don't think sam adams makes a bad octoberfest. If the choices are slim, then its a pretty tastey one to be stuck with IMO

i love sams october, one of my favorite beers. always stoked this time of the year.

I have a nice little collection of Samuel Adams bottles going.

I just bought one of those to try yesterday. Maybe I will have it tonight. For the most part, I really like Brooklyn's beers.

Yup, Brooklyn is one of those brewerys that seem to do most of their beer up good. Their local 2 is sooo mmm gooodnness. Have at it if you haven't already.
