Great work. The fact that there are people trying these experiments is good in general for people that are true hobbyists with goals. I am of the same mentality that there is little or no value from crop wild relatives from this genus other than to push citizen science which I have given up on...

I have no idea what de deno means or how it works. The same sowing method for the other 40 or so species of pepper will work for these with some minor shenanigans. How were the seeds sourced? Are they old or from grifters? Do you see any gnats or gnat larvae? They can and will destroy seeds...

There is atleast one that is equal to or even more tolerant of the cold than C.flexuosum. And many like you say do surprisingly well in a low lit, freezing cold garage for 8 months.

You are only as good as the quality and viability of your seeds. Also, what time frame are we talking here. If you are giving up on C.rabenii in 30 or 40 days, odds are you are throwing away perfectly good seeds. If I had one answer for having success germinating wild Capsicum seeds it would...

pubescens Capsicum pubescens seedling's ideal conditions ?

They grow very well under t8 and t5 fluorescent lighting. I do nothing special for them indoors and tent temps are 26C high and 17C low. Everything the same as other domesticated species except further away from the light source. Usually they will flower faster than C.Chinense from my...

seeds-germination Methods of increasing germination rates

Seed quality/viability is more important than anything else. Moisture to oxygen ratio and temp close second. If those are locked in,all of the domesticated species should germinate in 7 to 14 days. Germinating and breaking the surface are two different things. A paper towel grower may see things...

I believe from little experience that this temperature can be an issue at times with wild species. I personally have had far more success with lower temperatures. Try 22-24C for a bit or fluctuate between that and your typical temperature. As mentioned before in this thread, those fluctuations in...

I think this is great advice overall but the first sentence is patently untrue. It is for certain a property of a few species of Capsicum including C.rabenii, the species Cumari Pollux belongs to. There is empirical evidence all over the internet…a lot here as a matter of fact. I think your...

I had a feeling :P What zone are you in? I am actually interested to see if you can leave hardier selections outside. There is an inground plant in my neighborhood that was brought from the Mediterranean as a cutting in the 70s and lived through some serious winters. It is basically just...

You will appreciate them. I started with cuttings like those and started getting fruits the following year. You might possibly get away with leaving yours outside over there depending on the hardiness. Make sure you think about container size and how you want to proceed for years to come. They...

Cool thread. I left my 8 year olds outside to die in the polar vortex. One of if not the most simple and rewarding plants I have grown in my life. Nothing like a ripe fig.
