Yeah it was almost a no brainer. Only thing stopping me is will stocked fish bite that quickly? Other hand is, unfortunately we've got a lot of people here that will fish them dry as soon as word gets out. So it's get in early or miss out, even if I'm going for catch and release.
Go in really early. Fish dry flies. Bring some gravel to toss in and stimulate feeding. Seriously, though. I'm right there with hogleg and muskymojo. Fishing is ALWAYS the priority.
True true HM! Just hope the fish wanna bite 1 day after release. If not, by the time my next day off comes around most will be gone. A LOT of people around here still have the whole meat haul mentality. Gotta keep all they catch, even when they won't use them.
Usually takes a day or two before the become acclimated. After that, yep, any dry fly hitting the water is money. They think its a food pellet from the hatchery.
You can do both. While your batch is cooking, tie a turd stuffed with dog food to your line and cast it into your toilet. Flush occasionally to simulate a hook up.
Give em a week to lose the farm flavor, and after 6 months, give up eating them. Pond trout always seem to end up tasting like mud. Still fun for catch and release.
Lmao prodigal! And some 5-7 pounders would be great! Been a long time since I've caught anything that big.
Gotrox-great info. I'll be going strictly catch and release tho. There'll be enough trash keeping everything they catch as it is once word gets out.
You can soak mud tasting fishes in saltwater a couple types. That will flush them out.Just change the water out, every so often as it will be dirty. Then cook it like it is are add some spices to them. They have to be clean for it to work.
