  • Drought resistance in habaneros would be a good word problem for a bio class. Textbook example or recessive traits. Gonna bring it up tomorrow, after I repot the special ones.

You must be the nerd at school Cruzz. But that's more than ok cause you're not the my little pony kind of nerd.

EVERYONE at my school is the nerd. And the nauseating creatures known as 'bronies' are not to be brought up in polite company. Things get quite violent if they are. On another note, I'm gonna grow out the three that don't die when you forget to water them for a week and a half, so that people can have an easier time with them.
BSPH, what's in the powder? I get a hint of butch T, but others tasted something else. Funny anecdote about it coming in a bit. And no, I didn't trick anyone with it.

Thanks. The sauces are great also, but only on food. With a bit of salt, they'd actually taste good enough to eat on their own instead of having to wait for hamburger day at lunch. Might wanna look into that, it'd be amazing.
You would think, that when a pepper has a new branch forming and the rest of it is cut back, it would use the growing branch to regenerate. Nope. It grows an entirely new branch in a new spot, thus rendering this ANOTHER season it hasn't grown any pods.

It's still April, it might give you pods.

This guy has a no pods if growing policy. I hope it does, but last time this happened it decided not to. All the other ones are though, so I'm good.
Anyone have an idea what makes cotyledons curl up?
    muskymojo
    muskymojo
Are there true leaves as well as cotyledons? Cotyledons are temporary and fall off after true leaves take over.
    cruzzfish
    cruzzfish
No true leaves yet. One plant curled, the other didn't. I think it may have something to with the lighting.

I eat one sardine if my bro eats one 7 pod. It was the worst idea I've had in a while. It was disgusting.

    So ya don't like fish?
I could eat them every day.
Mustard, hot sauce, olive oil... They're all good!

I must say, I'm not the biggest fan of sardines. When their slightly toasted on crackers, their fine. Nothing wrong with other kinds fish.

Sardines are great. No crackers for me. I like em cold right out of the can.
Should I order starter plants from fordsfieryfoods or seeds from refiningfire? Duffy would sell me peter peppers, but I can get brazilian ghost and caramel moruga from Ford.

I can vouch for FFF. Good trans, quick shipping. No exp w RF, and not affiliated w FFF :)

    cruzzfish
    Ok then. FFF it is.

RF is okay. They have a much wider selection, but not as many 'rare' peppers. They have stuff like mustard scorpion, 7 pod, and the other basics.
Infinity chili twins. This is awesome. I'm gonna breed them with a reaper later and make a strain that always produces two stems from one seed.
    cruzzfish
    cruzzfish
    *reaper is conjoined twin also.
Inverse law of pepper fertility: Plant 3 seeds of each kind, knowing of high germ rates and nothing grows. If on the other hand, you plant 50 of each and hope not many grow so you have room, and everything grows.
Fun fact for all of you who didn't know: A carolina reaper plant is capable of supporting fifteen to sixteen pounds of dirt from a stem 3/4 inch across. Best not to ask how I found this out, or why big plants are harder to repot than smaller ones.
F**KING HECK! It's warm for ONE DAY and a mosquito is flying around here.

Sounds like you need a nice hard freeze to kill 'em off.

It's been frozen for the past four months. Especially with the polar vortexes. The mosquito must have been hiding in the garage or something.

Peppers plant in garbage bag? Only container I have access to, any chemical issues?
    cruzzfish

I have buckets. Just that some certain people REALLY don't like me using their stuff, and I coudln't go to the garden center because of some issues. If the bag breaks, then they know why they should let me use the bucket in the future. The plant wouldn't care about having the pot be the size of the room all that much, after all, the part it needs is already held together by roots.

If you have buckets, just use them.

cotyledons yellowing a bit. Probs cause of leaf mold, got rid of it just now.
    geeme
    geeme
Cotyledons or even leaves yellowing is most often a sign of overwatering. Pepper plants like moist but not wet.
    cruzzfish
    cruzzfish
I put it in a more heated room to kill the mold. The soil is returning to light brown now.
Need pots but garden center isn't open. Any ideas?

Depends how large you need them to be. If you're talking seedlings, many of us go to Solo cups. If you need larger than that, you might go with something make-shift, like the fabric grocery bags a lot of places now carry.
    cruzzfish
    cruzzfish
I'm talking 6'7-7' already. I'll look into the grocery bags.
My white hab seems awfully slow to the party. I had to prune it back last month because of spotting, and it just now realized that even though the room was a constant 60 and it was getting constant water that it wasn't supposed to fall asleep.
Apparently, a bunch of Africanized bees went on a rampage. Then the survivors where taken to a farm. What's stopping them from doing it again there? It;s not like moving to a new hive makes them European bees..
    Pepperjack91
    Pepperjack91
Maybe you could call them Americanized bees if they ate at McDonalds every other day, rode motorized buggies in the grocery store and had a shitty education system.
    cruzzfish
    cruzzfish
By that definition, I'm not American. Guess I'll be seeing you guys from Switzerland. That's the one with the vikings in it right?. /sarcasm

Well the way they rampage...they should be called Americanized.
