    Mystery Purple Pepper? Update 6/20

well, I ate one of them tonight. It was really mild. The one I ate a couple weeks was so hot, I couldn't finish it. How do I know when they're ripe? The one I had tonight tasted really fresh like a bell, with a mild overtone of heat. The one I ate a couple weeks ago, tasted more ripe, and the...

    Mystery Purple Pepper? Update 6/20

Ok, here's the plant now, with about a half dozen pods on it. I've tried one, and it's hotter than a Jalapeno. Maybe it's a Purple Cayenne? Thanks for any info,     And a close up of one of the pods:

OhioGrown's First Ever Glog 7-18 update, with pics, Pods are coming!!

So last week, I brewed up my first batch of AACT and made 25 gallons with it. I covered my entire garden. It's rained quite a few times lately, so I haven't had to water much at all. Here's a pic of my Orange Bhuts, and 2 Red Bhuts (overwinters) and a Trinidad Scorpion in a bucket.   My...

pics My first attempt at AACT, with pics!!

well, it's all on the garden now. 25 gallons total for everything worked out fairly well. I think I might try and get a 50 gallon barrel and use it next time, so I can use my water pump to water the entire garden at once with 50 gallons of Tea.

yup, the water it's going into came out of my rain barrels. I aerated all the water for a day or two before I started the tea. Here's a pic of my rainbarrels, two 275-gallon tanks:   it's gonna save my water bills this summer.

pics My first attempt at AACT, with pics!!

thanks, there was so much info in the AACT thread that it was a little overwhelming at first. But I think I got the basics of it: fungus (myco) + food (castings, guano, grass), and air (60 gallon aquarium pump with 1 large and 2 small air stones. I was afraid that my water wouldn't give the best...

pics My first attempt at AACT, with pics!!

ok, so after reading the huge thread on AACT, I decided that I needed to make some for my garden. I filled up four 5 gallon buckets with 4 gallons, then one more bucket with 5 gallons. I got my paint strainer and put in 2 cups worm castings, 1/2 cup seabird guano, 1 tbs fish emulsion, 1 tbs kelp...

    Will algae affect AACT?

thanks for such a quick response. I'm picking up a couple pumps and airstones tomorrow. I should probably aerate all of the water i'll be using? Like if i'm making one 5 gallon bucket of tea, and mixing it with 20 gallons of regular water.

    Will algae affect AACT?

If I take water from my rainbarrels, which is loaded with algae, will it mess up my attempts at an AACT?

OhioGrown's First Ever Glog 7-18 update, with pics, Pods are coming!!

Back again in June. It's been a little over two weeks since I planted, we got a really cold couple of nights Memorial Day weekend. I think it stunted my peppers a little, but after last week in the 80's, and getting a new water pump, they've rebounded nicely. I picked up a 1/2 HP 1400 gallon per...

    Mystery Purple Pepper? Update 6/20

a couple of my Giant Jalapenos had a little purple to them, but not like this thing. When it was smaller, the entire thing was purple. It's leaves are smaller than the rest of my Giant Jalapenos, and its just as tall.

    Mystery Purple Pepper? Update 6/20

That's what I was thinking too. I've never grown them before, and it seems kinda spindly compared to my other Jalapenos. Oh well, we'll see what it puts off. . .

    Mystery Purple Pepper? Update 6/20

So, I got most of my seeds from www.pepperlover.com last year. This plant sprouted quicker than any of them, and grew real tall, lanky and purple. I topped it early to make it bushier. It was in with my Giant Jalapeno seeds, and it looks slightly like a Jalapeno, but different. What's your...

Thoughts on Actinovate? Leaf spot problems....

My local indoor garden store recommended Actinovate for my grey mildew I got on my zucchinis last year. I used it, and it seemed to slow it down, but they were too far gone to save, and eventually they all croaked. I'm having some rust colored brown spots that are on a lot of my peppers, some of...

water Need large rainbarrel advice (water pumps)

So I have two 275 gallon rainbarrels that are almost full, and I need to figure out how big a pump I need to get it out to my garden. They are 50 feet away from the garden, with a slight upslope towards the garden. To make the spigot even with my garden, I would have to have the barrels probably...
