health What's wrong with my plants.

Agree with you in theory - it does look like an infection of some sort to me too...just thought I'd point out bacteria, fungi, and viruses are 3 different types of life forms / infections.

Whatever it is it's killed a couple of my plants.

    what is eating my peppers?

My peppers haven't been attacked but I've had similar bite marks on some of my tomatoes. I assumed it was rats or opposums or raccoons or some other small mammal.

    Leaves falling Off?

I had a couple plants that looked like that. I'm fairly sure it was at least related if not outright caused by heat - I ahd the most problems when we had that heat wave a month or so ago where it was 110-ish each day. Also quiet possible the heat and watering caused root issues...I did a few...

    Pregnant Pepper(Baby Pepper Inside)

I've had that happen a few times too, but in my case the internal "baby" pepper has always still been green even though the external "parent" pepper was ripe.

Plants need help - possible root rot or wilt disease

Hey Doc, my autopsy didn't reveal much; roots were brown but not slimy at all. I have a new theory - they cooked to death. The plants that have experienced issues have almost all been in the same place on my patio, and have received more sunlight than the other plants. They have all started...

    breeding i've been hybridized!

My Aji plant from Aji Joe (exact type unknown to me) looks pretty much identical to that plant as do the pods. Any chance you mixed up your seeds?

Plants need help - possible root rot or wilt disease

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. The heat is probably a factor and I'm thinking may well be responsible for the leaf drop on the other plants, but the wilters also definitely have something wrong with them. I'm guessing a soil borne illness, root rot or one of the wilt diseases. I'll do an...

Plants need help - possible root rot or wilt disease

Dennis - It was good talking to you via text and sorry to see you're dealing with a lot of the same issues I am. I think next year I'm going to get soil with fungicide built in like a Promix or try to get some myself to add to the soil. I've lost so many seedlings to damp off and now this mess...

Plants need help - possible root rot or wilt disease

Hey guys, It's been a bit of a rocky summer. Things were going well until it got really hot, and since then I've had trouble with: hornworms cucumber beetles (yuck) red spider mites leaf miners scales unidentified mammals (more of a tomato problem, either rats or opossums probably) Of even...

    Trinidad Scorpion Pepper...or not?

UPDATE: Two things to mention...first I ate one today. Pretty disappointed, I ate it in a side by side comparison with one of my habaneros, and the habanero was substantially hotter. Secondly, apparently the Arboretum grew them from seed, and the director forwarded my email to the guy...

    Trinidad Scorpion Pepper...or not?

I just emailed the director with a link to the thread, hopefully he looks into it or forwards the email to someone actually involved with cultivating the peppers.

    Trinidad Scorpion Pepper...or not?

Thanks for the input guys, I'm really curious to see Dennis' pods look a little different. Most of mine are elongated but a few are similar to the ones in his first pic. So I think the consensus is some sort of 7-pot hybrid? I'm going to contact the Arboretum and let them know the appear to be...

    Trinidad Scorpion Pepper...or not?

Hey Guys, I purchased a pair of seedlings from the Cal State Fullerton Arboretum a couple of months back, and one of the two is in full blown pod production mode. However...they don't look like I expected them to...they are more elongated and have bumpier textures and are..well...more orange...

D|KiNG's Humble growlog...2012---little girls sprinkle some powder on their food

Dennis those don't look like spider mites to me. In my experience spider mites live on the backside of leaves and leave them with little white dots all over the topside, and in bad cases they leave webs all over the plants. They might be some other type of mite though. Good luck with them...

Peppers and Toms - Round 2

6/20/12/ Update... Things have been chugging along fairly well. I have pods on one of my T Scorps, the Jamaican Hot Yellow, an Aji Joe Aji Mix (only pepper from seed with pods yet), and of course the overwintered Orange Hab. (And the Hot Thai has a bunch of bright red pods. Pretty tasty...

nutrients Experiment Time, going to test different PPM ratios on plants with hydro nutrients

Like the poster before me pointed out, it is difficult to make an "experiment" of this nature statistically meaningful. Try to grow as many plants in each group as possible, and remember to try to ensure that all of the plants experience the same conditions EXCEPT for the ppm. Good luck & I...
