seed-train All aboard ( The next seed train)

I checked in with the post office on my end today. They weren't very helpful - I had them run tracking and check the shelves and there was no package there, and they refused to admit it was lost. The supervisor told me that between Washington and my house there were 3 places it would have been...

    Wilting is sproutlings

Damping off for sure. Lost a few seedlings myself over the last few days to it. Heat + overwatering = boom.

Don't sweat it HH, obviously this isn't your fault, don't let it get you down or cost you any sleep (I see you posted at 4:30 am lol ).

seed-train All aboard ( The next seed train)

Lets hope the thing gets found. It can be reported as "lost" on what, Saturday? I don't know if that might motivate them to "find" it, but hopefully they get their act together.

    RESHAMPATTI SEEDS regarding

Sorry to hear about the break in. That's kind of weird stuff to steal...maybe someone you know? A normal thief is looking for electronics or cash, other high value / easily flipped goods....

    Pricing for plants

I bought mine for $5 from the nursery at a local college. I don't think I'd pay much more than that for a small plant. You could start them in that $5-$7 range and if they don't sell, repot them when ready and adjust the price accordingly. I guess the real question is, who is your market...

    Jamaican Differences

Just 2 t scorps, a bhut, a caribbean red, and the jamaican yellow. The day I went most of the stuff I wanted on the list either was gone or the ones they had looked terrible. I wanted a Fatali but they only had 2 and they were tiny little things and looked half way dead.

    How critical is pH?

My tap water is around 8.0 (according to a report from the water district & semi-confirmed with a cheap ph pen) and from my experiences with tomatoes last year, is not so good for the plants. I add a table spoon of lemon juice to each galon, which brings it down around 7.0 (6.8 according to the...

    Jamaican Differences

I got one from the Fullerton Arboretum too, mostly because when I was there, there was slim pickings on the hot peppers and they advertised 100k-200k scovilles. I wasn't under the impression they were in any way related to scotch bonnets though. It will be interesting to see if your "Jamaican...

    OMG OMG OMG OMG

Was it a reputable seed vendor? Because that pod shape doesn't look right at all to me. Granted I haven't grown Butch T's and my normal Trinidad Scorpions are just starting to flower, but from the pictures I've seen scorps are sort of bell shaped with the stinger...and from what I understand...

seed-train All aboard ( The next seed train)

I almost wonder if it got randomly screened or searched and they decided it was pot seeds. Then again when dealing with government agencies I think it's generally safe to assume incompetency over conspiracy, so they probably just lost it somewhere in the building.

    soil Suggestions on soil mix....

To be honest I've been so concerned with over watering that I haven't watered any of the recently potted plants enough for there to be any runoff. The weather has been kind of bleak and we've gotten rain a few times since I made the mix, so it's hard to tell at this point how the drainage /...

    soil Suggestions on soil mix....

I ended up using the following mix : 5 parts perlite; 3 parts peat moss (dry; expands to larger volume obviously when moistened); 3 parts miracle grow moisture control ; 2.5 parts compost...

Any "Game of Thrones" fans here?

I've read all the books but have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the series, mostly due to the mortality rate of the main characters and in the more recent books the disconnected story lines. Good writing for the most part. I watched a few episodes of the series and thought they were well...

Anyone have any Melon or Tomatillo seeds?

I read a book a year or two ago on melons that said what we in America call a "canteloupe" is muskmelon, but that the original French canteloupe is some other type of melon. So assuming the information in the book was accurate, your mom was correct.

sun How many hours of direct sunlight do you think is optimal?

AJ- thats a related thread that actually inspired this one. It didn't address my specific question - what people feel is the optimal amount of direct sunlight in a day. I suppose I could have asked the question in that thread instead of starting my own related thread.

sun How many hours of direct sunlight do you think is optimal?

The plants in question are 2 Trinidad scorpions, a bhut, a Jamaican yellow and a Caribbean red. They are a couple of months old, and were "hardened off", but have been outside full time for probably a good 6 weeks by now. The Jamaican yellow and the Caribbean red seem to do fine in the "full...

sun How many hours of direct sunlight do you think is optimal?

I was wondering what the more experienced growers feel is an optimal amount of direct sunlight. I had my peppers in 10+ hours of direct light for a while, and they seem to prefer a little less. Any thoughts?

Mailman just came bye, no seed train today. Seems to have been derailed somewhere along the tracks. :mope:
