breeding Cross Pollination ideas for Numex Big Jim

After I saw that someone successfully crossed a Aji Amarillo and a Scorpion, I thought I could try a lemongundy (Lemondrop X Burgundy) for color and shape.   BarrackaJim or other Chinense.   A LemonJim could be awesome.

Hello all,   I wish to try a cross-pollination experiment this summer with my Numex Big Jim as it seems to be an awesome pepper and a big one.   Any of you guys have idea of good mix I could try. soil AACT with Forest Soil and River Water

Hi Folks,   I happen to live near a river and forest.   I want to have opinions in using forest humus for fungi dominated tea and also river water as medium for a 5 gallon brew.   Any threat of using the nature's product for potted peppers? Thanks, Guillaume

    Teurf 2014 - Grand Finale

January 21st update:   I have added Numex Big Jim and Numex Joe.E Parker to the collection. Also, a friend of mine went to his home country during the holidays (Burkina Faso) and brought me what he calls: ''Piment Sorcière'' which looks like Burkina Yellow. I am also germinating this one right...

    soil Soil Ph

Hey PMD,   I just finished reading 'Teaming with Microbes' and am loaded with questions in regards to soil optimal pH for peppers.   For your AACT, do you make a Fungal dominant tea (in order to have a low pH) or you aim for a Bacterial dominant tea (for a higher ph around 7)?   Are you using...

What you can also do is to heat up a piece of metal and pierce through the plastic when it melt. I used a piece of hanger, vice gris and a candle and worked just fine. Took awhile but worked.

EcoPlus Air Pump - Compost Tea (Ship to QC, Canada)

Hi there folks,   I'm getting prepared for this summer's growing season and want to find an adequate air pump for doing AACT.   Since I will most likely brew 5 gallon pail, I would like to go with EcoPlus 18w pump for 38L/min.  ...

Fungus Gnats - BTI in Canada (or Montreal)

Hello,   Yesterday night, I noticed that I had fungus gnats in the outer cup of my bottom watering cups. Meaning that there must be fungus gnats larvae throughout my soil. I had no choice but to water because the plant were wilting.   So, IMO letting the soil dry out will no longer necessarily...

Going to use grow bags this season

Thanks for the site, I calculated that for 15 gallon pots, with the cylinder design, I would be ok with a piece of 10' x 20'. Depending on the thickness of the film, 4oz,6oz,8oz, it would be between 45$ and 67$. This is the site from which I calculated.  ...

Going to use grow bags this season

Do you have an idea of where I could acquire affordable pond underlayment in order to make 15 gallon fabric pots. I plan on having maybe 15 pots... Since I'm in Montreal, it is currently off season and I have trouble finding something better than 2.5oz weed blocking geotextile.   In you guys...

Perlite Greening and Cotyledons dying off before true leaves pop

Out of curiosity since the Butch T were pretty much dead, I pulled out the stems, one had a fungus gnat larvae stuck on it and the root was partially eaten with no hairs at all.   I can't remember exactly but I think I might have taken used soil for germination... I hesitated but I shouldve...

Perlite Greening and Cotyledons dying off before true leaves pop

I am using T5 4tube 2' 24watts. Soil is 1 part coco: 1 part potting : 1/2 part perlite. Lights are about 8 inches from soil... I had the cups covered with plastic for germination. The germination are on the left.       Here is the Butch T with dead cotyledons.     Thanks, Teurf

Perlite Greening and Cotyledons dying off before true leaves pop

Good night folks,   I recently sowed a couple of seeds in individual beer cups (Douglah, Butch T, Orig Scorpion) and it's been maybe 2 weeks. The seedlings are starting to pop out. I have seen the growing media and most importantly perlite turn to a light jungle green color. Also, 3 seedlings...
