    seeds Paper towel germination questions

Try using coffee filters cut in half in place of the paper towels. I started using them this year and found that there are some advantages. With the paper the roots coud grow into the paper towel itself, but the coffee filter is so finely woven that the roots never grow into it. I have caused...

    What are these little.......

Try using about two tablespoons of soap into a gallon of water. Pour into a spray bottle and spray directly onto the areas affected with the aphids. Make sure to look under the leaves for them as well.

    What are these little.......

Just 20 min. ago I cut a branch off of my serrano plant that had some on it. I sprayed the remaining with the soap/water solution. They seemed to be only on the new growth of this particular plant. Hope they dont spread onto my cayenne plant right next to it.

    What are these little.......

They look like aphids to me. I have used the dish soap and water in a spray bottle and it has worked for me. Just keep a close eye on them and continue until you get the upper hand on them. If not they can really take over.

    seeds seed starting timing

Inside of my germination area I have some snow peas waiting to sprout. I was doing this for a test of the set-up. I have not started any pepper seeds as of yet. I was waiting to start around the end of Dec or the begining of Jan. That is why I was trying to find info about the timing.

    seeds seed starting timing

I just set up (4)65w CFLs inside a closet for my Serrano and Cayenne plants that I brought in from the raised beds outside. I also started a germination area with one 26w CFL but the temp there is only around 60-65 degrees. The germination area is located inside of my garage. It sounds as if I...

If it takes for instance 50 days to germinate should I count back 50 aditional days to stIart the seeds. I dont want...

    Transplanted Cayenne, Jalapeño, and Serrano

For about a week I have been covering up the plants at night to protect them from the cold nights we have been having lately(less than 40 degrees). I have been moving them out to a spot that gets the most sun exposure durring the day(8 + hrs). This process was keeping the plants stable but I...

    Transplanted Cayenne, Jalapeño, and Serrano

Transplanted into pots: Cayenne, Jalapeño, and Serrano. I cut them back and pulled peppers off of them. Click thumbnails for full size. Does anybody think I cut them back too much? Thoughts/comments are appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello from Southern California

I am a vegetable gardener who grows peppers. I have never grown any exotics, but after seeing all of the pictures I would like to start. I have grown jalapenos, serranso and cayennes. I dont know a good source for exotic seeds, although I have started checking out the hippy seed company among...
