    craft beer

Speaking of stouts I just had a pint of Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout last night. It's touted as an "Organic" beer suitable for vegetarians but I honesty don't think the majority of beer lovers are going to care that it's a vegan friendly beer.

    Why I Hate IPAs

Hi all. It's been a few weeks since I've posted but I'm glad to see things have been nice and civilized in this thread. Just to clarify I haven't completely given up on IPA's I've just yet to find one that I actually enjoyed. As bukowski just noted there are so many IPA's out there it's hard to...

    Why I Hate IPAs

Being a craft beer lover I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority when I say "I hate IPAs" but after trying at least 5 different IPAs in the last year or so I have yet to say, "Mmm, I actually liked that one." I recetly stumbled on an article written by a beer lover with my sentiments and here are...

    craft beer

The local pub has a variety of German beers on tap so last night I was in the mood for Oktoberfest so I tried a couple of different beers and I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't really tell you the name of the breweries because I could barely pronounce the names when I was ordering.

    food BREAKFAST!!!

I woke up this morning and noticed there's a leftover burrito bowl in the fridge that my sister brought home from Chipotle so I fried an egg, diced some avocados, and drizzled some sriracha that I've mixed with scorpion powder and it turned out to be a pretty tasty breakfast. I wonder if...

    video TABASCO CHOCOLATE?!

Great review, although you probably should've let the chocolate come to room temperature before eating it. I've never had the Tabasco Chocolate bar but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it when I'm out shopping.

    Slater's 50 Alarm Burger

It's actually the one in Pasadena. You can't go wrong with The Hat for pastrami but if you like craft beer and want a thick juicy burger, as opposed to the thin patties at In 'n Outs, then Slaters is definitely a place you should try. Don't get me wrong... I love In 'n Out burgers but every...

    Slater's 50 Alarm Burger

Slater's 50/50 is a SoCal burger joint famous for their 50/50 patty; made of 50% ground bacon and 50% ground beef. I've never been to one until recently and that's when I discovered the 50 Alarm Burger. It comes with ghost pepper jack cheese, bacon habanero spread, fresh jalapeño, beer battered...

How does the heat treat your taste buds?

I always tell people who ask me that question that capsaicin effects the pain receptors in your mouth, not your taste buds. As far as my personal experience goes with hot stuff I've found that even though I love a little Sriracha or Cholula on my eggs I don't like going too extreme during...

My first taste of Indian food

I actually went back last week and tried the pepper lamb, which was cooked in a green peppercorn curry and flavored with saffron, and it was amazing. It's only the second dish I tried but I have a feeling it's going to be my absolute favorite.

My first taste of Indian food

Oh, well that's a different story. The bowl of ramen I had to eat was pretty big and I've seen pictures of tiny women finishing it off so it all depends on the individual's capability of eating large portions of food.

My first taste of Indian food

A similar thing happened to me with the special #2 spicy ramen challenge at Orochon Ramen. I knew I wasn't going to finish the entire bowl but I ordered it just to see how spicy it was. IMO spicy food challenges shouldn't be about finishing off a large quantity of food. That's what eating...

My first taste of Indian food

Yes, they had lamb vindaloo on their menu so I definitely want to try that dish as well. Being that it was my first time at an Indian restaurant I went with the "house favorite" and i was not disappointed.

My first taste of Indian food

Being a spicy food lover I'm not sure why I've never been to an Indian restaurant before but last night I had my first taste of Indian cuisine and I must say I am very impressed by the flavors and spices they use in their dishes. The restaurant we went to had a heat scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the...

    Ranch Dressing

Personally, I don't like to buy spicy condiments or dressings because they usually cost more than the store bought kind and aren't spicy at all. I know we have vendors on this site who sell super spicy BBQ sauces that are worth trying but most of the time when I want some spicy mayo or ketchup I...

    hot-sauce Refrigerating hot sauce

I asked Johnny @ HBD about this a while back because the Nuit en Enfer didn't have a "refrigerate after opening" instruction and his response was:   "Our sauces do not need to be refrigerated. Even the ones that say the should be. FDA requires the refrigerate after opening statement, but for...

    hot-sauce Your fave Sriracha?

I ordered the Trinidad Scorpion Sriracha from California Blazing Chile Farms after reading your post and I must say I'm really impressed with the flavor and heat. I also noticed it doesn't have any preservatives like the big brand srirachas so I'm wondering if I should refrigerate right away...

    Chalula

I don't care much for vinegar based hot sauces but when I'm eating at a diner and my only choices are Chalula, Tapatio, and Tabasco I always go for the Chalula.

review Blair's Sudden Death Jerky review

If you've got a farmers market in your town I suggest checking to see if they've got any vendors selling organic beef jerky and buying from them. Their spicy beef jerky might not be the hottest you've ever had but it definitely tastes good enough to keep going back for more.

Simple chili paste recipe that goes well with everything

The recipe says olive oil but I've been using EVOO but I don't think it makes a difference since I'm not heating up the oil so you can probably even use infused olive oil to add more flavor. For my next batch I'm going to try EV avocado oil and maybe add another spice to the mix.
