Yeah, I'd love to see what that looks like. We don't really have anything like that up here. Closest thing would be a couple of the farmers markets if you catch them at the right time, but I doubt they have as many of the really interesting varieties.

Wow! Your still looks amazing, SN! Sorry it was such a tough season, but the orange fatalii sounds like a bright spot. I may have to keep that one in mind for a future grow. I enjoy fatalii and you make it sound outstanding.

It's cool that you can pick up such a variety of peppers locally. I'd be constantly be looking for new and interesting things in stock. BTW, I'm growing that Lumbre XXX you send me seeds for and it's starting to put on some size now at 40 days from sprouting. Shouldn't be too much longer...

I was just sorting though some pepper seeds yesterday and saw I had Cascabel seeds that I didn't grow this season. I was thinking maybe I'd try them this next season. Now I'm definitely going to try them given your review. There's so many good Mexican heirloom annuums.

2024 - Let's save friends from death by chili pepper

I think more than a few of us are looking forward to a better next season, but hopefully good things from this one as well. That rabenii flower is truly impressive. All the white space really makes it pop! I'm curious too, what you're excited about for next season.

lighting Heat source for plants in a cold basement

If you decide to use a tent, a simple ceramic-style reptile heat lamp in the tent will do a lot for the internal temperature. This works well with an Inkbird controller, like Bou suggests. A controller isn't necessary, but it helps regulate temperature better and can save some electricity $$ as...

issue What's wrong with this ghost pepper?

These things aren't always easy to diagnose and cures can often be more general than specific. My thoughts are: 1. Provide more biomatter in the soil mix, e.g., some form of compost. 2. Changing to a flowering fertilizer is unnecessary at the least and likely counter productive, especially one...

    2024 Glog :(

That's a bummer, DF. Toughest season here that I can remember. I'm trying to make up for it with an indoor grow OW. Are you planning to keep any deck peppers or start any new ones overwinter?

chinense Current Consensus on Aji Panca?

Not really. My strategy is to avoid being late in getting it going and to get it into a final home with decent root room early on.

    news Warthog

The seed coat's not clamped, it's somewhat plump with moisture, and you can see the green of the cotyledons already, so this isn't a bad helmet head - thought it's not one I'd do the pinch-and-pull method on quite yet either. I might be different than BF in that in a case like this I'll leave...

chinense Current Consensus on Aji Panca?

It's always been slow for me. Matures like the chinense it is; ripens like the baccatum it sounds like. I've gotten decent production before, but it's been hit or miss for me from season to season.
