That must have been a spicy eggplant! Looks like things are really happening with your jungle now.

Show Us Your Pubes! Group GLOG From The Rocoto Giveaway

Your rocoto looks good! - even if it is behind normal. It's been a slow year for rocotos here as well. My outside plants are smaller than to be expected and pod set has been limited. I do have a small Aji Largo growing inside that just started flowering, though :)

    disease Anthracnose possibly

I have more issues with BER in tomatoes than in peppers, as well. It's uncommon for me with peppers, but sometimes a bigger anuum variety will get it. I don't remember it on any other pepper species, including the bigger rocotos which I've grown a lot of. With my tomatoes, it's not uncommon...

Your rocotos are looking solid. Great that they've all set fruit now. Also cool to see the mantis. We're outside their range here, so they're only seen on rare occasions when someone has put out egg cases.

annuum Good Seed Source for Paprika?

Have you seen this recent thread? There are many different peppers used for paprika. Hopefully more people will chime in with their favorites. I made a tasty paprika with Aleppo peppers not long ago. I considered it very tame for heat, but I suppose that can be relative.

    disease Anthracnose possibly

From what I've read, BER typically occurs when plants are growing rapidly and it often affects the first developing fruits. It also is more common in larger fruit. A common cause is that a fast developing plant is not getting enough consistent water/liquid to the fruits during fruit formation...

    disease Anthracnose possibly

I would be considering BER here. The location seems right for peppers and the upper pod in particular seems to be developing that way. Sunscald is also something to consider as DR brings up. In either case, it doesn't look like anthracnose or anything that would pose an ongoing or contagious...

pod Seed Train Beth Boyd Scotch Bonnet

I harvested them red and they had a good kick to them. I'd agree that these were noticeably hotter than jalapenos. Here's a picture showing the two plants I grew in small containers, inside. The bigger one is still alive, now outside on my deck.

    disease Anthracnose possibly

Hey Tink. I've never had any significant anthracnose problem, but I think it does transfer on seeds so they'd benefit from seed treatment with a fungicide. Bleach treating the seeds might work, but I suspect an H2O2 treatment would require maintaining the solution at an elevated temperature...

outdoors The running, biking, hiking, camping forum

Damn man, that's really tough. A friend had a TNR and it's been a game changer for her. If that's what you're looking at, I hope the same for you. The tech for these things just keeps getting better and better. Myself, I've had some very hard falls and moving much of my hard training to...

It's never too early to get started!

Jeez, Marc, your bonnets are seriously loaded down! Great to see after what seemed like a slow start to your season. Too bad about the dreadie, though it looks like you have a full plant's worth of pods on the remaining part alone :)

plant Needing help with I.D. please

I don't think it's a ghost pepper, though I see some general bhut-like features, like the wavy leaf perimeters and the general pod shape. It does look like an interspecific hybrid, though. What I'm seeing is no annular constriction of the calyx, many flowers per node, and a pure white flower...

    pod Lemon Drop color change?

Most likely they're normal and healthy and this has nothing to due with fertilizer or anything you're doing or not doing. It looks like it's simply anthocyanin showing up in the pod, which will normally degenerate and clear during the ripening leaving the nice yellow color. The amount of...

Those dried peppers look amazing. The red blush on them makes them look especially fresh and tasty :) Great that you're having success toward establishing these varieties and building your seed stock!

    Paprika For Everyone

Unfortunately, pepper cuttings don't seem to root as easily or consistently as some other plants and it can take a longer time when they do. I see some people post that they have/had no problem starting them, while others fail. My experience has been mixed and not what I'd consider as...
