    Wild, Indeed, Community Thread

Looking good, CC! Growth has really jumped off on the OW wilds here recently. Lanceolatum seems to be leading the charge toward producing. The rest are mostly just growing leaves.

    seeds Sandia Seeds

Yep, clear as a bell up above. I must have hot rod serranos on the brain. I've been growing a few different types of heirloom serrano lately to see what I like and I wonder about those F1 hybrids. That's a solid mix of heat you have going. Are they going into containers or do you have...

Nice! Are those hot rod serranos?

health Timothy the Ghost Pepper Update ( + Advice Needed)

Good advice above. Definitely don't prune those "leaves" though as they aren't just leaves, they're the branches of the plant developing and those will fill out your plant. Trimming big lower leaves when they're not branches is a some-do-some-don't thing and it can depend on the circumstances...

Man, those are looking great! They must be loving the soil mix and leg room in those containers. I still have the majority of mine in small containers and need to get them potted up asap.

pod Shape of Purple UFO peppers

Wow! Those are really different. It's hard to imagine one plant with each of those pod shapes, which are so distinctly different. It even appears like the calyxes are different, though that might just be the effect of shoulders on the wider pods. I'm not sure what the long ones might be...

    health Yellow leaves not sure

What are you using as your growing medium and what have you done to supplement it so far if you have yet? Unless your growing in an inert or principally inert medium, you're more likely to have a macronutrient or more generalized nutrient issue, than a specific or micronutrient issue. You...

pod Shape of Purple UFO peppers

If one of the plants has half and half, it's likely to be something other than genetic. Pods will take different shapes sometime based on environmental conditions and the condition of the plants. Can you post some pics?

    pod How does this happen?!

It could simply be that some of the seeds in the pack crossed out, so maybe it's half fatalii and half red hab or bonnet or something similar. Even within a single pod you can end up with some seeds true and others crossed. BTW, is that a black drum in your profile pic? Worse ways to spend a...

    2024 Glog :(

Glad to hear that the growing weather is on the way, DF. Seems that despite the shorter season your plants really grow fast once nature finally throws the switch. Those ROF sprouts look great! I grow them every year now after you shared the seeds with me. They're fast growing and way...

    plant Unfamiliar seedlings

I'd have a hard time believing those tomatoes came from the seeds in those 3 packages. I wouldn't count out some actual peppers spouting around now. A week-and-a-half isn't any crazy-long wait for chinense to sprout (maybe a bit long for annuum like the peperoncino, though), particularly in...

Same. The packaged seeds look like pepper seeds, but it looks like some tomato seeds got into the soil. How long ago did you plant the pepper seeds?

2024 - Let's save friends from death by chili pepper

That's a great selection and, despite their slower start, they're looking strong and healthy! I hope the improved weather will have them growing quickly, now. It was a slow start to the season here as well.

Damage would be expected going fairly suddenly from limited sun and warmth into much greater direct sun and warmth. Then you risk transpiration (wilt) and burn issues. If they're reasonably adjusted, the long hot days seem more to just result in flower drop and sometimes drop of pods that have...

I'd probably hold off until I had indication a plant needed it. Many of mine in containers do fine without. Though if you're planning to use the round/cone style cages and you have a permanent location selected for them so you won't have to be moving them I might start now because you can't...
