    Canedog Offseason Season 2022/23

Between 24C and 29C is fine. I always set the thermostat to 27C and once they are up i gradually start bringing the temps down a bit.

    Canedog Offseason Season 2022/23

In my experience most heatmats become just a bit too warm for the ideal germination temps of peppers. Temps often rise to around 86F / 30C or even more wich could harm germination or enhance the risk of damping off. Putting an extra layer on top like the towel Canedog is using could compensate...

    Sulsa's 2023 Glog

I use a bottomlayer of mixed vermiculite and cocopeat 1:1 ratio and also throw in a tiny bit of aged compost and some crushersand. I start with a layer of this mix, just a few centimeters on the bottom. On top of that a few cm. vermiculite, than the seeds and after that i cover the seeds with 1...

Switched to vermiculite during my second sowing round last year and was pretty impressed by it's properties.

Goronong germinated 5 out of 5 within 6 days! 💪 Also have some trinidad perfume, fatali, bahamian goat, mako akokosrade, papa joes sb and even some perola laranja popping well within the first week.

It is what it is 2023

When they produce new growth they probably will do fine. Brown stumps doesn't sound too encouraging though, you could scratch the outer layer of the stem with your nails and see if the cambium layer underneath is still green and alive... if not toss 'm in the bin and start sowing some more...

I had exactly the same.. kept it at bay for almost three years before it found it's way in. Loss of smell and taste lasted about two weeks for me. Hope you recover well!

    cooking I got a smoker!

The smoke can definitely be too much sometimes. I like to give ingredients a short but hot grill on charcoal to get me some maillard reactions and then finish with just a few minutes of smoke with high ventilation. This way the smoke never dominates and the maillard reaction adds a lot of flavor...

issue Flower drop on a healthy Ghost Pepper plant.

Happens a lot in spring here too. Seems like nighttime temps up to 60F causes the plants to produce insufficient pollen for proper pollination. Flowers that didn't had good pollination will drop. Wouldn't worry too much though, plants look fine and quite young. In a few months you will be knee...

It's never too early to get started!

I bet those plants will be looking great in a couple of weeks! They have plenty of fresh soil and nutrients available by the looks of it, just keep them warm and light enough and they will do fine for sure. Keep the aphid guard up though...:flamethrower: Don't they sell pyrethrum based sprays...

    Sulsa's 2023 Glog

I always liked the idea of having a very old, thick and knotty stemmed chile plant that grows to enormous proportions every year, but since i don't have a heated greenhouse or tropical atrium in my house this will probably never happen. 😞

Here we go again!!!! Looking back at the 2022 season i can only conclude that it has been a succesfull and very productive season, wich ofcourse fueled the pepper madness in me even more! :D Fact is i grew way more peppers than i can possibly consume or give away under normal circumstances and...

    Sulsa's 2022 grow log

😁 Just my experience with the lemon drop (and the other baccatums i grew) I read somewhere that crude baccatum doesn't taste very well, wich is something i definitely can confirm. I might give some other preparations a chance though. I got plenty frozen and dried lemon drop stored. The harvest...
