Tried the cedar smoked garlic from Dawson's. Loads of garlic and subtle smoke in the nose. Sharp notes of vinegar with a heavy garlic flavor. Smoke and habanero flavors linger as the flavors mix and heat subsides. Really like this one. Might not last thru the weekend. LoL. Heat 4/10 flavor 8/10.
The trick is pre boiling. With oysters you'll want to Boil mushrooms then cook to finish. In this case I boiled prior to filleting the mushrooms. I then wrapped in rice paper hydrated with soy and pan fry on med high heat till skin is crispy.
First box of the year. First we have Dawson's "cedar smoked garlic". This one sounds good but no mention of cedar in the ingredients. So, I'll assume they smoked the garlic.
Next is one that I'm unsure of to be honest. Angry goat pepper co "the phoenix" a cantaloupe and Scotch bonnet sauce...
Oh absolutely. Old fashioned was originally just a way of mixing your booze with sugar and bitters. To my knowledge this "old fashioned" way of mixing was used for not only whiskey but gin, cognac or brandy as well. I guess one could say it wasn't a whiskey exclusive drink till the 1880s.
The whistle pig 10 single barrel has a pretty high proof. A little bit of simple syrup cuts down on the ethanol up front. And the aromatics from bitter seem to pair very well with the spiciness of the rye on the finish. The whiskey neat is a bit rough and on the rocks is good but I prefer that...
Nothing too spectacular show yet but almost every variety has at least one seedling. All but yellow rocoto and red bhut. I expect many more to sprout over the next week.
We tried to oven bake them and there was so much grease it almost spilled over the little pan we used so we pulled them out and finished them off in the skillet 😂
I agree there definitely was a waxy oiliness that is common with coconut oil. I still don't like them the size that they package them that's why I cut them in half when they're thawed out and press them flat more like a smashburger or steak and shake does. One single piece of cheese in the...
Todays lunch. Beyond meat burgers ( onion and garlic added to Patty's and cut in half then flattened with parchment paper) toppings include: tomatoes, pickles, Italian pepper relish, grilled jalapeno, pimento cheese and pepper jack. Serve with macaroni which was topped with chipotle sauce.
Starfish peppers definitely require a lot of support. I like to use 36 in tomato cages and additional bamboo supports late in the season. They can be trained to grow up a trellis too.
Plant based KFC? Y'all know I had to try it out.
First day available. Picked up a couple of 12 piece boxes. The smell of them on the ride home was intoxicating. Definitely has that signature fried chicken smell. Perfectly fried. The texture is perfectly crispy on the outside. The "meat" is a...
We did not love the impossible ones either. Quorn nuggs are okay as well but nothing compared to great value. I had to dissect it just to make sure it was not really chicken.
