review Monthly box

So the wife and I signed up for the monthly box from heatonist. Pretty impressed with this first box and I am quite pleased that it did not include anything I have had yet. Excited to share my thoughts after we sample them. Box included Hellfire Kranked, Hoff's Haus sauce, and Señor Lechuga (Adobo, Black lime, ghost pepper)

I love Hellfire sauces, nice lot!

I have an unopened Gourmet Green. Need to crack it open!

Just sat down to a late lunch. Sampling each. First Hoff's. This sauce really embodies the German style mustard along with a dill flavor that puts off a pickle vibe. Not the best pairing for today's lunch which is a fiesta veggie bowl. The sauce would be really good on a burger. Heat level 3 out of 10. Second was the señor lechuga. Quite sweet initially with a strong lime flavor with hints of adobo and cinnamon. moderate heat level hits the back of the throat as it should having ghost pepper in it. Heat level 5 of 10. Lastly the hellfire. Intense black garlic flavor up front followed by signature reaper flavor and overall mouth burn. as the heat starts cranking up you get notes of the curry in the background. This is a phenomenal hot sauce. Heat level 9 of 10.

Cool!

1 sounds good for hot dogs and cold cuts, 2 sounds good for certain Mexican food like Yucatan specialties, and 3 sounds like a good steak/carne asada sauce or on top of blackened chicken/fish.

Spot on with 1. Might even be good with a soft pretzel. 2 absolutely or island food something like tostones. 3 would definitely be good on blackened fish. We usually do that quite often I'll let you know how that goes. I think it would also be good top on any Curry dish. Indian or Thai

I forgot you're in LA, I bet you eat blackened redfish a lot. I'm a pescetarian, so... yeah. 😋

A little bit of everything in the box this month. A mild, medium and a hot. "The Green" is technically a tester sauce for Heatonist. What they are marketing as a kid's hot sauce. Ingredients read more like a green smoothie with jalapeno and vinegar added to it. The medium sounds very tasty. Patty O's potion is a vinegar based sauce with habaneros in it and a ton of other flavors like garlic grapefruit tomatoes and carrots. The other should be considerably hotter. The KO edition from Poirier's Louisiana style hot sauce. This is his ghost pepper edition ingredients read just like the regular Poirier's with ghost peppers added to it.

First box of the year. First we have Dawson's "cedar smoked garlic". This one sounds good but no mention of cedar in the ingredients. So, I'll assume they smoked the garlic.
Next is one that I'm unsure of to be honest. Angry goat pepper co "the phoenix" a cantaloupe and Scotch bonnet sauce. I'm not a fan of cantaloupe so needless to say I'm not as excited about this one LOL.
Last is pucker butt pepper company "extra mean green" a green sauce that says it has intense ghost pepper blend however the ingredients only say hot green peppers. Pretty typical of smokin Ed to keep variety a secret.
