    Drunken Bee's 2024

Chocolate CPS still looking very healthy after a long winter and oculto clef firing out new growth. Pubescens and Baccatum seem perfectly placed to do well in the climate the greenhouse provides here - hence my desire to build out my collection of them (and their wild relatives). Having big...

    misc Capsicum Flexuosum

for what its worth, I've found flex very hard to germinate. I've tried fresh seed from berries, seed from a few different sources and I've really struggled, more so than I have with any other wild. I do have seed coming up at present though so perhaps there is or was something about my process...

    Drunken Bee's 2024

The Flex is up and leafing out nicely. First annums went in this morning: - Thunder Cacho Brown - Pippin's Golden Honey (have decided I'm definitely gonna have a real think about doing a Horace Pippin tribute grow next year) - Petit Marseillais Still to go: - Capia - Romanian Sweet -...

    Drunken Bee's 2024

Wow that is quite a greenhouse! šŸ˜² Itā€™s pretty special - Iā€™m just renting a bit of it but Iā€™d love to someday own one and live out all my tropical plant dreams at once!

Not sure whatā€™s prompted it but despite the cold snap this little Florida wild bird has decided to grow full speed ahead and he started pushing flowers in January!

    Drunken Bee's 2024

Since people expressed an interest in what else Iā€™m growing I thought Iā€™d share a few picturesā€¦. The most successful thing are these physalis ground cherries/ physallis - they were here when I got here and are a massive pain to be honestā€¦ They take over and perennialise in the greenhouse and if...

    Drunken Bee's 2024

It's a beast isn't it? I only have a little section - most of it is operated by someone who grows indigo commercially. My section has bananas, figs, tamarillo, mountain papaya and passiflora as well as a few other bits and is a sort of ramshackle foodforest in a greenhouse in design.

    Drunken Bee's 2024

It varies - some years we just barely get one or two light frosts a year, others we get minus five or six. Last year was bad enough to frost burn all the bananas in the big greenhouse (which is unheated) but all the chillis survived. Perhaps worth being clear I'm in the British Channel Islands...

    Drunken Bee's 2024

Decided to drop a few seeds in december for next year so decided to start a '24 Glog early. I'm very lucky in that in addition to a small domestic greenhouse at our house I also have access to a significant space in a commercial greenhouse (our little island used to be the UK's leading tomato...

seeds How do you manage your seed collections?

As I rummaged through a bag full of assorted envelopes and baggies yesterday I came to wondering - how do Hot Pepper users with big seed collections manage their collections? Specifically Iā€™m wondering: - for those of you who donā€™t grow every variety in your collection every year, how often do...

Sowed next yearā€™s pubes at the weekend and, more relevantly for this thread, some flexuosum. Iā€™ve failed utterly in 2 previous attempts to germinate this variety so wish me luck!
