I'm about as far south in AZ as you can get, and I'm having a hell of a time keeping mine alive, first and last year trying to grow here. Pots and shade as mentioned, mine get about 3 hrs direct sunlight in the AM now and shade the rest of the day and have been doing a lot better. I'm no expert...
