That should be an interesting pepper. I'm having bad germ rates with my 7JPN x Aji fantasy. 0 so far, but I'm hoping at least one will come out of 2 pods.
A vast improvement over the pimenta de Neyde. They were pretty hot. I'd say they would range from a habanero to a ghost pepper. The creamy...
There are issues with heirlooms. Mostly inbreeding. I'm not a fan of this company. However, why are farmers buying their seeds rather than using their own?
I didn't notice it was orange looking in the pic. That pod is a bit strange with the orange. The overall plant produced red mixed with a lot of purple, which is very odd for red (they usually lose most of the purple). Orange and other colors can still show up in the F3s.
It accepts pollen right away. A single grain is all that's required. The best time to pollinate the flower is the day before it opens. You should see the pollen (might need a hand lens) stick to the stigma of the emasculated flower after pollinating it.
The two favorite crosses I made...
I have black pearls and PDNs. I also have f3 seeds of different versions of a 7 pot Jonah crossed with a pimenta de Neyde that I did. I have red, orange, yellow, and two different purple and red versions of the F1 crossed with a Trinidad Scorpion Moruga.
This particular one is a creamy white...
The bhutlah has been spread and developed by different people. The term chocolate is extremely common for a brown pepper. It's generic, and I think it's ridiculous to claim someone has a monopoly on the term for the bhutlah. People that haven't heard of this variety could easily come up with the...
Fortunately most people don't take that route. I imagine it's costly and not practical. Fatalii states his fatalii gourmet jigsaw is "NOT FOR RESALE IN ANY FORM!," but I'm not sure if he patented or is just claiming that. I think he says the same for his aji fantasy. If anyone knows what...
Oh, are you saying an individual breeder should clone the F1s for more F2 seeds? I bet breeders doing it on a large scale do this. I get plenty of F2s with my F1 hybrids. If I don't (such as my F1s (7 pot Jonah x pimenta de Neyde) x Trinidad Scorpion Moruga, which very due to the half of it...
It looks like capsicum annuum. The calyx is off for c. chinese. The leaves are also very narrow like c. annuum. That's not a habanero. Way too thick for a hab and the shape, including size, is wrong. Is it sweet?
The gen shouldn't matter if you're going to clone. Why bother with F1 if you have a F4 pink tiger with stripes? That should be clone over one that is less desirable. I think the primary issue with cloning is storage and it being a pain to ship.
I have lots of seeds. Just send me a pm for a SASBE. They ripen to red. I'm calling them aji dulce "long stem." They are a sweet very mild capsicum chinese. I couldn't really detect any heat, but I eat a lot of hot peppers.
I think it's a good idea. I was thinking about doing the same thing, lol. You should do it imo. How can it ruin anything!?
I disagree. I like the flavor a lot more in the Bahamian goat pepper and another person likes the MoA more (I don't think MoA is that great). Both have different colors...
