Pretty sure you want to use water because of salt buildup with the hydro nutes. I completely burned and stunted plants I started in double cup a few years back. Not sure what to tell you on the 5 days away you dont want to drown them with too much water.

Can cling wrap around the stem and expanded clay to keep the nutes in the jar and dunk the whole plant?

Very nice! Im looking to replicate this with some lettuce indoors soon. Can you pinch the ends of oregano to make it more compact? Doesnt look like its an issue yet but it might get a little unruly in a few more weeks.

As the plants get taller and the glass jars get emptier does it still seem like they are pretty stable? Obviously indoors wind is not an issue but curious if they are starting to feel too heavy.

If these plants were outside in the sun there is no need to worry about the strength from artificial light. It might burn them if its too hot with heat and the plants are too close but even the most powerful lights dont compete with the sun. Its normal for plants coming indoors to drop leaves.

Btw what are the peppers in the pile? Kind of look like biquinho amarelo but not sure.

Ive used frost cloth and random pieces of burlap. Really I think anything will do.

I never said I thought it was a good idea but I am still pretty curious to see what happens :) glad they arent my plants.
