    baccatum Aji White Lightning Bolt

My biggest (not very) plant has about a dozen pods coming along nicely.  They're turning pale and I'm waiting for them to reach White Whale coloration.

Growing year round in USDA Zone 10a?

A few frostbitten leaves is no biggie, but IMO, you really don't want the stems suffering significant damage.  Sure, a healthy root-ball will regrow stems, but that energy would be better spent adding lots of big leaves to the stems already there.

Growing year round in USDA Zone 10a?

Tucson is also 10a.   The peppers do get a bit stressed during the heart of our fierce  winter, but they will survive anything down to a light freeze if covered.  Below 30, you'll want to bring them in or add some source of heat beneath the blankets.  (Just a large bucket of water...

    Stetto's First Winter Grow ('16-'17)

Nope. It's all good. I had wished for a trigger to ripen, maybe this is a good sign:   Excellent!   Long range weather forecasting is always sketchy but, FWIW, the next system bringing cold air isn't "due" until the 22nd or so. Tell those damn pods to get with the program!

    Stetto's First Winter Grow ('16-'17)

37 "should" be no trouble.  Even with a touch of extra radiant cooling, the plants "shouldn't" suffer any real damage.   Riiiight??   :eh:   And now you've got at least another 10~14 days of near-80 bliss...

Is this the average person's knowledge?

Apparently all that 'boring' science stuff got shitcanned somewhere along the way....     This guy has lots of factiods bouncing around in his head, but near-zero understanding of why and how they interact.  Not understanding even the most basic aspects of the world around you, and...

off-topic Good Mornin' Thread - For those that get up really early and post

Been up all night watching Irma tear through the northern Leeward Islands.  Passing over Antigua a few hours ago, the storm sustained 180MPH winds, with gusts over 200 - well into the realm of an EF-5 tornado (the sort that reduces buildings to small chunks of debris.)  It's clobbering Anguilla...

Not that funny here in S. Az. Border crossers frequently start fires that accidentally or deliberately get out of control. We've lost huge tracts of forests over the last ~5 years. :/

Well, they are White Lightning Bolts, so they presumably have a ways to go.  That said, I'd feel compelled to try that center pod...

Devv, if you search "pepper nitrogen yield," or similar, you'll find a number of papers, many of which seem to disagree!  The old rule of thumb regarding "Too much N stops fruiting" may be just term of the equation, one subject to being outweighed by other considerations.  It's all something I...

    Stetto's First Winter Grow ('16-'17)

Another anti-frost trick is to place a bucket or three full of water next to the plant, beneath the tarp.   If there's a big supermarket nearby (or floral store) check for discarded ~3 gallon black buckets that the assorted flower and stems come packed with.  I scored about a hundred of them...
