    I did something stupid

Diminishing returns after 18-20 hours is how I understand it. re: the amount of growth per hour in the last 4-6 hours is substantially lower than the previous 18. Also cuts 1/4 off the bill. Not a huge difference either way, some run 24/7 to keep temperature in range.

How to break a t5 fixture

Fraud, illegal, browbeating.   A think a public lynching is in order....       Kind of ridiculous. I wouldn't frequent a store with a return policy like that. There isn't a person in this thread who hasen't purchased something, only to get home and realize some basic error they made. Trying to...

    can this compost be used??

Could be the heat level of the compost. Not really boned up on the topic, just what I've heard about the local stuff. Poking around for a bit, the grease/protein warning for home composting might be the animal attraction issue as well.     I didn't write this in the last post, but as you...

    soil Evaluate my soil mix

You've got all the bits and bobs, mix in the ratio Jesse mentioned and you'll be fine, though it really depends on the composition of the potting soil. Light on the guano. Most of the recommended "tea" rates come from cannabis growers, and they're typically overfeeding anyway.       Wouldn't the...

    My First Pepper Opened!

Gives the pepper the middle finger, I love it :D   Where'd you get them? Looks like the TMS I got from PepperJoe.

    can this compost be used??

I wouldn't recommend it for a different reason. The local version of similar, and I believe this holds for all "refuse" compost, is that they're very nutrient dense, particularly nitrogen, and can't be used in the same ratio as standard compost. No matter how they label it, someone always wipes...

    On Cutlery ...

I prefer Japanese knives for the handle/blade shape. I find for myself, it is easier to feel the knife as a part of my forearm/wrist. There is usually more room for your hand and knuckles than with German style, particulary the distance between fingers and chopping board of a gripped handle..  ...

    American Sniper

That's because you never served a day in your life, have nothing to explain and are commenting on things you'll never understand.   If you had any balls, you would share your opinion with Reppenhagen. I doubt you would enjoy those little marbles being kicked up into your throat.   War is so...

    American Sniper

Care to explain the perfection of your first kill?   I assume from your critique, that it went much better.   In this day of global communication, it shouldn't be hard for you to track him down and explain why you think he's a little bitch. I'm sure he would love to hear your explanation.

    American Sniper

I'll take the honest experience of a veteran over gratuitous bravado. He clearly had what it takes, and I have no right as a civilian to question his character. What gives you that right is beyond me.   The article writer is more concerned with the larger impression given by American Sniper. The...

    American Sniper

As a civilian, I try to refrain from commenting on such things, as I have no experience with what they face.

    American Sniper

Ok?   "Pacifist, anti-war bullshit" from an veteran sniper?   I would rather hear the truth than listen to war drums.

    food Rice thread: good stuff!

Nuts and cheese are some of my favourite things to chew on together. Not sure I've seen speck before. There isn't much prosciutto over here that I want to eat. North America is terrible for charcuterie on the whole, there is some good stuff but it's buried under tonnes of nitrate ridden slices...
