    Bone meal...better options?

Ah, so then it's exactly the same as other meal amendments used in organic mixes ? Re: nutrient availability. I thought the whole point of organics was to step away from highly soluble fertilizers. What's Coot got to say about this? Ah right, he threw a hissy fit and quit GC. Where are you going...

    Bone meal...better options?

Organic snobs have a strange barometer. Refuse from animal processing is bad, refuse from seafood processing is good. Most rely heavily on kelp products, but choose to ignore the clear cutting of kelp fields as an issue. Processing some rocks into soil supplements is bad, but some rocks are...

fertilizer How much of this fertilizer to use?

It isn't a fertilizer per say (in the regard I believe you're thinking of it), but looks to be strong or fortified worm castings. The advice to top dress is spot on. For what looks like a 5 gallon bucket, a cup or two scratched into the surface is sufficient. Heavy top dressing with castings is...

fertilizer Egg shells, banana peels as fertilizers

I've had twenty to thirty gallon pots reach 100 to 130 degrees F before, but it was temporary and the heat declined within a week of reaching that mark. A few were up potted directly and for some unknown reason never heated. No raw compost ingredients, just peat/coir, compost and amendments.

Condiment squeeze bottles with a cap, or check a hydro store, many carry some what universal jug pumps.

Hi, I love calarmari, and I have a chilli growing problem.

Good luck for you, deep fried pickled peppers and calamari make an epic combination. Nothing relevant to post hehe. I do love me some calamari though.

Calcium nitrate versus Calcium phosphate...Liquid Bone Meal?

Hehe.. Many of those companies do little more than pay for a formula, but then the owners ego inflates and, well, that.

Feeling very Fitzgeraldy today, though I have been staring at this green light all morning to no effect.

Shade cloth or a tarp angled. Much easier than running outside like a nance every time it rains to put them under cover. Sometimes in your undercovers. I definitely don't do that. Well that's because you have no water, ol' sport.

    chinense Dear Orange Habanero

I wouldn't know :D Although I did grab a pack of MOA from Judy, I was caught up in bullshirt when I should have been germinating. Have to pop them for indoors, though nothing I've grown inside has been very pungent.

tutorial Beginner's guide to AACT/Compost Tea

If you poke around the Library on The Logical Gardener, there are a few PDF I and others have uploaded regarding foliar applications of tea, in particular those made with vermicompost. Too lazy to go through the rigamorale of reposting on a tablet. TLG (bloody autocorrect, no one cares about...

    Anyone used Azamax?

Christ, then I must be the first hypocrite walking these forums. I tend to differentiate between saying and thinking. I use racist jargon all the time, but anyone that knows my views understands I think it's all malarkey. A racist half blood is somewhat of a contradiction, but I've met a few...

    Burn it with Fire

Cold damage and broad mites can produce similar distorted growth. On a side note, seems you're using actual soil (compared to us artificial soil growers hehe). Some (cold loving peppers? Hehe) look quite happy and healthy, what have you mixed up there?

    Anyone used Azamax?

Sorry, but what? According to people that use it, it works as intended. Successfully remediated spider mites and FG at different times myself, as I gather other's here have as well. I believe you're referring to Clackamas Coot. While he is a wealth of information to say the least, if you can't...

tutorial All about soil - A great resource I thought I would share

20-20(-20) would refer to a slow release pelletized fertilizer, I imagine. Any advice would depend on what direction your leaning; a substrate for fertilization, a hybrid or water only organic, etc.

Stunted growth and curled leaves, couple of theories

Perlite tends to be the better choice unless you live in a very dry area and conserve water.
