Most of those articles are fascinating on some level. I read many of them before I found THP. They really underscore the differences between how a research facility grows versus how hobbyist chileheads grow...

What kind of bug/insect is this?

Right now, my fave low-heat Chinense is Aji Jobito. Runner up is NuMex Trick or Treat. Next year, I want to try the Stuffing Scotch Bonnet, which is huge but not hot and, let's face it, not truly a Bonnet... But it seems like it'd be a great variety to grow.

Unless yours got cross-pollinated by the nearby Farmers Market Jalapenos, you should be good to go from saved seeds.  There's info on the CPI site, but apparently if i link the site, THP rejects my message.  But there's an in-depth article in pdf form on the site.   ps-I am definitely growing...

Educate me here my friend. I dont plan to do this, BUT if i were to keep seed from these Numex Lemon Spice theres no telling what I might end up with right? Plus these were planted beside 2 Farmers Market Jalapeños...   Check out the info on the "Spice" series Jalapeños on the CPI site...

I think IdahoLewis is concerned that the Lemon Spice is an F1 hybrid so the stability is out the door of hr saves and grows f2 plants from saved seeds. Examples of this would be things like the Naga Viper, HotRod Serrano, and Red Savina Hab... Which are supposed to be f1 hybrids, meaning you get...

Any Scotch Bonnets without that typical Chinense / Habanero flavor?

Aji Jobito is delicious. Love the pods' structure, and the flavor is awesome. Still smells and tastes like chinense though, thank Gawd

Weird plant problem with dead flowers

Yeah, I feel like humans still don't understand the bio-mechanics behind plants' responses to stimuli. And I think your right about each plant being an original...I got a really weird one on my hands, here. Our of the 350+ plants I've grown out, this is the first time I've seen this type of...

Weird plant problem with dead flowers

That could definitely explain why the flowers are failing, for sure. But it doesn't explain why the flowers aren't dropping. They hold on for dear life, even after they're long dead. But yeah couldn't hurt to try that. I bet it's a deeper problem; all the other plants right by it are...

    Bike808 getting Dirty in Jersey

Holy crap, I surely did abandon my GLog again. I'm feeling so ashamed. But I haven't abandoned my gardens. I have been absolutely overrun with these pods. I've been sending out some boxes, making gallons of sauce, smoking pods, eating tons of food, bartering with local eateries for modelos and...

Any Scotch Bonnets without that typical Chinense / Habanero flavor?

For me, BOC definitely tastes like a chinense which means, depending on your perspective, it kinda tastes like a Hab, too. Obviously, there are differences between BOC and Habaneros, but I don't see how one could hate a Habanero and love a BOC. Why don't you just grow annuums instead? Or...

Weird plant problem with dead flowers

Ok so I'm growing two plants from seeds that were supposed to be Giant Yellow Congos but the one of them is putting out red pods that are off-shaped but, to be fair, they are pretty big. But that's not the plant in writing about today. Writing about his "brother," the other nof-Giant Yellow...

Looks like good ol' Orange Habs to me. Shame they didn't stay "variegated."

I haven't personally, but I know plenty of folks here on THP and on social media have grown the Chichimeca. Seems like the general consensus is that they're pretty good. I haven't heard anything, good or bad, about the tormenta. Beth Boyd was some sort of chile genius or legend or goddess or...

    Superhot Flavor Profiles

I grew Naglah Brown this year. I've only had a few ripe pods yet, most of which got smoked or sauced. I ate one raw and straight up, to get a sense of it. I was expecting a real killer burn, but it was definitely on the lower end of SuperHot. Of course, that was an early pod; maybe later season...
