Hot, not supper hot, advice for 2017

I'll agree with Brazilian starfish, bishops crown and aji fantasy. All have cool shapes and great tasting too. Another one over tried this year that I've enjoyed is the sugar rush series. Great tasting, the 3 colours I have all have different shapes, and are actually pretty damn hot for a Baccatum.

    First time trying Manzanos

I haven't tried El Ranchito yet. I always go to La Morenita. They always have yellow manzano's when I go, and occasionally reds as well. They can be a bit hit and miss on quality though. A few times I've gone and they've only had a handful of good pods and the rest were starting to rot, but...

    First time trying Manzanos

Home grown definitely taste better than store bought. I see you're in Lafayette. If you went to the same Mexican grocery store I usually go to for manzano's I'm a bit surprised. The ones I've gotten from there have always had a decent flavour to them. Not as good as homegrown, but better than...

    My carnivorous plants [Pictures heavy]

There's some absolutely stunning plants in this thread! I've just recently started getting into carnivorous plants, and started with 2 venus fly traps which are currently recovering after 1 of our ogs took a liking to them. Picked up my first Nepenthes from a local seasonal garden centre on...

    Sweet pepper talk?

Jimmy Nardello, Bulls heart and sweet apple peppers have all been great for me. Great tasting sweets, and I don't get the bitterness I get from bell peppers.

Thanks oldsalty! Always look on the bright side of life! Moruga-thanks for the offer but luckily I'm good on pods. Had a bumper year last year so still have pods in the freezer, and been hooked up a few times already since the flood.

One advantage to losing nearly all my plants during the flood is I can get the beds ready for my winter veggies a lot earlier than usual.

    Ghost?

Not a ghost, lkoops more like a 7 pot variety or a hybrid of some kind. Is there any way you can contact who you got the plants from to try to find out what they sent? That could help to narrow it down.

Need Good Source for Szechuan Peppercorns pleaseā€¦

Check out any local Asian grocers if you have some nearby. I picked up a huge bag earlier this year for only a couple of dollars. Pretty sure they're Szechuan as they numb the mouth, but it's only labelled as peppercorns in English.
