    Growing for Newbies

So far, just dragon cayenne and cherry hot. I ordered a couple other varieties yesterday (jalapenos, cayennes, a mix of bells, tekne dolmasi, filfil baladi, Turkish Charleston, and caballero poblanos) and can't wait till they get here! It took me forever to decide what to order...so many...

    Growing for Newbies

I'm in the same boat as you, so this thread is really helpful! I've never started seeds before and decided to take the plunge this year. I got my little cups, a little tray, and started everything last Sunday. Now I'm just waiting...Good advice here that I will definitely be applying :)

What's the weirdest thing you've made with your peppers?

I chopped up my dragon cayennes and cooked them into pancakes. Delicious! Especially good with honey...

    vendor Park Seed Company...

Do they send "Your item has shipped" emails or will my order just show up? I ordered yesterday and got an order confirmation, but no email stating it's shipped. Just wondering if I should email them and ask or if it's par for the course...

    vendor pepperlover.com

I just placed my order this morning (and it shipped already!!)! This is my first time buying seeds, let alone ordering them online, but these good reviews convinced me that it's definitely worth a try! Can anyone tell me how long it typically takes from shipping to delivery? I know it depends...

    The official TOMATO thread

So, here's a question. We pulled up our tomato plants over a month ago (probably more like 2 months ago). I went out today and just by chance noticed three little seedlings (probably 5" tall) sprouting. I put them into pots and found three more little ones (probably 1", if that) so I got them...

    What are these?

I picked these up at the Farmers Market this weekend. I was told they were habaneros, but I just wanted to make sure before I started cutting them up for the jelly I'm making.

    What is this?

Some of the stink bug pictures do look right (and there was a stink bug on one of the mottled peppers I picked last night!) - I bet that's my problem.

    What is this?

Is it okay to eat? It's in the dehydrator right now with a batch of dragon cayennes. Also, should I yank up the plant or hope that some of the other peppers turn out okay?

    What is this?

Not the pepper, but the strange "marbling" effect on it. I thought maybe something nibbled on it, but it's like it's under the surface somehow! Two peppers look like this. A sign of some sort of deficiency, or is it some kind of bug? I cut it open and while you can see the marbled area in the...

Thanks! I'm doing the couch to 5k thing - been working my way up for a few weeks now and did the 20 minute run this morning. I run slooooow but I still get side stitches. I'm learning that breathing through the pain and continuing to run actually makes them go away faster, but boy does it hurt!

    How early is too early?

I want to start some seeds, see if I can get them to sprout, and successfully keep them alive. I know it's kind of early to think about starting (isn't it?) but I love having a project and since I've never planted from seed before, I feel like a little (a lot?) early is better than too late -...

    Dragon Cayenne

"Very" is an understatement! I have two of these guys in my garden and I can't use them fast enough. I've been making jelly with them (first batch had 8 peppers, second had 9 and still could've used more kick) but I can only eat so much jelly and I only know a couple people who are at all...

Anyone else grow their own garlic?

I plant onions and garlic down one edge of the bed and everything else in the middle - garlic and onions can stay in the ground while everything else comes out and is replaced by the summer veggies.
