This is an awesome glog. I love bonnet-y peppers so I'm not sure why I haven't been following this more closely. Awesome pods, especially on that sb7j.
You can if the plant is stable in its pot. It won't really hurt too much. I kind of doubt it's too secure with that amount of roots showing but eh. Seems easy enough to replant it.
Imo it just makes sense to cross two *different* superhots whether you're going for heat or variety. You probably won't get much crossing a bhut with a Naga or similar, but you could get something really cool crossing a bhut with a 7 pot or similar. It is an interesting observation, but a lot of...
Went and pulled everything ripe or close off of my few plants. This is a few inches deep so not everything is visible

Red Bonnie NOT-golden ghost (I got red pods from two plants gotten at two different stores)

I'll eat them red over green if available, but the heatless jalas I'm growing this year just refuse to ripen. I've had the same pods on my plant for 2+ months and only one has even hinted at a blush. Needless to say, I've been using those green
I could be wrong, but I think that was for the bigger pods. I know my 20ish g pod was the biggest on the plant by far and I thing guru's 19g pods were also on the larger side.
Tomatoes and peppers really does seem like a stretch considering how different the stalks are and how they seem to grow fairly differently in my experience. I've heard of tomatoes on potato rootstock but I think they're a little closer.
It definitely is, but considering that was my largest pod and I probably won't get many more than what are on the plant right now I'm not too worried about passing anyone up. Though if it's an issue I can void any pods I get until I get a better scale.
First weigh-in comes in the form of a single pod on an old weight watchers scale acquired from a second-hand store. Any doubts of this maybe being a dreadie are gone after a quick taste. I'm convinced it's the hottest thing I've put in my mouth!
Edit: scale reads around 20g (erring on the...
Open pollinated afaik just means the seeds came from unisolated pods. However I think I've heard it used with tomatoes to be synonymous with heirloom, in which case yeah. You can grow out a cross for 7-8ish generations and have a decently stable new variety.
