Effect of species on Grafting

Hi everybody,

Today I was going to graft some of my pepper plant for the first time, the question comes to my mind, does pepper species effect on grafting? Is it possible to graft different species together( ex. Capsicum annum to capsicum Chinese or visa versa)? And which species is better for grafting, I mean is it better to graft my hab to my thai or my Thai to my hab(if possible)??

I have never tried grafting peppers, but I have read about people successfully grafting peppers onto tomato rootstock. Grafting different species of peppers seems like less of a stretch than grafting peppers to tomatoes, so I would think it should be possible.

Tomatoes and peppers really does seem like a stretch considering how different the stalks are and how they seem to grow fairly differently in my experience. I've heard of tomatoes on potato rootstock but I think they're a little closer.

That's actually really cool! I looked it up a few months back but couldn't really find much so thanks. Interesting read for sure.

I have grafted a Yellow 7 Pot onto an Asian Birdseye rootstock.
 
I'm experimenting now with grafting onto other members of the Nightshade family to see how it goes.
