Best place for 600W HPS bulb?

Move to CO, WA,OR or AK.   1. Competition is fierce for growing supplies. 2. Glowing lights, wierd smells, and other suspicious activities not actionable resasons for a visit by constabulary.   I have heard several rumors of "what that guy is growing" about me. I now keep several peppers growing...

food Pot of Chili. Stir it up!

Sweet! Got a Chile contest next week, and already decided on pork.   I have one of them fancy pressure smokers, and was debating whether to use it or the little chief.   As a smoker, I find the flavor to be a bit off when forced into the meat, but for a meat stew that will be enhanced by a load...

    Smoking Super Hots

Last batch for powders---skewered halves fresh and whole previously frozen in a little chief, 2 pans chips, overnight. About 12 hrs. Should have rotated top to bottom 1/2 way through was only fubar.     Batch before that. Halves on perforated trays, 2 pans chips, 4 hours, finished in dehydrator...

    food Smoked infused pepper salts

Mine may be a bit intense for a salt cure. Unless you are a pepperhead. ;)   And have very good ventilation.   I can only imagine the chemical warfare cloud when the peppersalt cured fish hits the fryer.

    food Smoked infused pepper salts

Several ways, but I always smoke my peppers first.   Current batch was smoked, dehrdrated till almost dry, ground into a slightly damp powder, and mixed with sea salt.   Quite by accident, it turned out *just right* with no further drying required.   The mix was a  2/3 (2 of 3 racks) full little...

Hydro advice needed: DWC vs. Ebb and Flow/Hydroton vs. Rockwool

First transplant into the net pot----full to the top of the media. Because my transplanting scheme has few (if any) roots extending below the pot.   Level just below the pot thereafter.   "Semi flush" because a full flush requires a drain and fill, removing the bits that inevitably collect at...

Hydro advice needed: DWC vs. Ebb and Flow/Hydroton vs. Rockwool

Yup. I let them get almost empty, twice refill with nutes, once with water only (semi flush). 2 or 3 cycles of that till plants show signs of stress. Full flush, repeat.   Plants in small dirt pots (and rootbound by design) get alternating nutes and water. Same nute mix as hydro.   A better...

Hydro advice needed: DWC vs. Ebb and Flow/Hydroton vs. Rockwool

Root Spa's for me. Big enough air pump and no worries getting oxy to the roots. PH perfect nutes, and it's pretty much set it and forget it, with occasional flush and refill according to your preferred schedule. I tend to let is run a couple months, rather than a couple weeks before flushing...

    OXY Bucket Drip System Usage

To each their own.   Chlorines and fluorines I keep away from.   Personal preference. Ever hear of "Agent Orange"?

    OXY Bucket Drip System Usage

I use 10 ml per gallon, using a syringe to inject into the air tube. (no needle, just the syringe)   That would be 3ml or so per liter. On my setup, the blue tube on yours is where the air pump line goes in.

    OXY Bucket Drip System Usage

In it's pure form, atomized on Nickel. I use the 3% solution found in every store's medicine isle. Use it even on seedlings getting rot.   It's just water with an extra oxygen atom.   H2O2.   Chlorine is another matter entirely. It combines with inorganic material in water to form chloride...

    OXY Bucket Drip System Usage

Hydrogen Peroxide is my go-to.   Bottle is under a buck U.S. and I don't like to take chances.   Bleach can be a game ender for your grow if you aren't very careful.

So i just recently switched to hydro.......help :p

got some air going to the roots? I have no issues other than a couple days of droop going from dirt to hydro, a bit more droop and drop going from hydro to dirt.   My only trick is to fill to the top of the pebbles on going to hydro, letting the level fall to proper level naturally, making sure...

    What Light Intensity?!

    I get pods from a 4x4 grow tent.   4 plants, t5 8 tube (4 low k, 4 high k)   But I start them under a 6 tube t5---60 or so in the footprint of the fixture. (4 high k, 2 low k)

    CO2 Brew

beer----well, not exactly.   Trying to be discrete. ;)   Turbo needs 80/100 for a proper ferment.   18% in 7 days.    Blowing out the airlock like a leaky tire the first 2 days. In a 4x4 sealed room. (Grow tent).

    CO2 Brew

OK. Have a carboy fermenting-------mmmm---beer. To keep it warm, I put it in my grow tent, figuring the lights would keep it warm, and the extra co2 off-gassing would be good for the peppers.   Surprise, surprise.   Flowers everywhere and pods setting in just a couple days.   To be honest...
