    Non-Circulating plant refuses to set.

I might suggest to you that you put a piece of carpet - or even a double layer of it - on the floor inside the area.  Helps insulate just a bit.

For what it's worth, can you make a Visqueen tent? Just a roll of plastic and duct tape makes a cheap grow tent, and works quite well. (where light diffusion isn't a primary concern)

    Non-Circulating plant refuses to set.

I was actually wondering if you were gonna tell me that it was a ghost or ghost-ish.  This seems to be a recurring theme with that particular family.  I was a little pro-active with the suggestion to warm and raise the humidity a bit.  But between that and the fan, it's still my top advice.  The...

    Non-Circulating plant refuses to set.

So, I don't know if that's a thing they tell you when you use the Kratky method, but there is no "flowering" or "bloom" "stage" for peppers.  They are everbearing, once they reach maturity.  There's literally no need to nutrient cycle. . Secondly, I have to ask why you chose the Kratky...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

You have my deepest sympathies.  They are tough bastards.  And it is even worse when they have tropical foliage available.  Around here, Palms and Cycads are some of the worst affected.  In fact, Maypan coconut trees are hit particularly hard in our area.  This has a knock-on effect, because...

It was actually Dr. Bronners.  But I follow-up tested, on another plant, with dish detergent (7th generation brand) after the fact, to try to validate the damage, for which I had no other answer.  And I got the same result.  I used the Dr. Bronners at a rate of 1Tbsp per gallon, and the dish...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

I will caveat that further, though, and say that while I can't take away anyone's individual experiences, I still don't recommend dish detergent.  I do believe (from experience) that there are times that foliar applications of things like soaps or detergents, do cause damage that aren't readily...

Absolutely, same here.  it would be awesome if we had more regional participants, to help delineate the differences in environmental effects, based on climate.   . Nothing beats regional growing advice.  I'm a little surprised that we don't have regional boards in a growing forum. . I honestly...

    tutorial The Pest Guide

Dish soaps should NEVER be recommended for use on plants - especially Dawn.  Like literally, ever.  They strip all of the protective coating off of a plant's leaves, and open it up for bacterial infections, increased attack by insects, etc.  You can actually kill all of the pests (and...

seeds The Simple Case Of The Seed Cases: A" Noobie" Question With A Little Bit Of Banter And Backstory For

As I'm reading this, it makes me wonder how my English mate felt the first time he was around American parents who threatened their child, by telling them they were going to "paddle your fanny". . Good thing you mentioned banter, cause I don't know anything about growing stuff... ;)

I plant a little deeper, also.  Sorta started by accident, but I stuck with what works.  I have close to 0% incidence of helmet heads.   . These guys are tiny tiny varieties, but I started some in rockwool, and the others in my normal coco coir.  I was having some issues with germination, due to...

He also added pre-measured water from a jar EXACTLY like the one he was pouring it into. . Maybe he concluded that if he poured it out, and started over, it would have put him one drop closer to that bottle ending up in the landfill. Or maybe he didn't have another jar to prefill, to dilute...

lighting Red and blue grow lights

I have lights on my seed starts, simply because I have several stages of plants co-mingling.  It's certainly not going to hurt to have the lights on, but it's a waste of resources, if you're just throwing light at dirt. . Peppers are not a plant that require light to germinate, as some do. ...

Seems a bit of a terse reply, given that the state of your sprouts certainly invited the question. . They don't look damped off, but that looks like some grossly abused rockwool.  And you have ~50% occurrence of helmet tops, which is alarmingly high - although not surprising, given the...
