breeding Infertile Cross F1 Baccatum x Chinense

Sorry to hear about this problem. I`ve only grown 3 or 4 chinense x baccatum crosses and not had infertility issues so far, they will be F4 this season. I`m not sure whether they were made chinense x baccatum or baccatum x chinense, so maybe that makes a difference? I have a new one to grow at...

    Christopher Phillips Leukemia Fund

Thanks AJ, that`s such a lovely selfless thing! Here is the web site for the National Bone Marrow Donation organisation. You may not help Chris, but you may help someone else. Just have a look and decide if it`s good for you. If it isn`t, don`t worry. The thought itself is special!  ...

    Christopher Phillips Leukemia Fund

Another quick update on Chris and his treatment. He finished some chemo last week, but had to be re-admitted to Hospital 3 days ago with a fever of 103°, so is on IV antibiotics. He also has severe lack of red blood cells, platelets and neutrophils (a type of white blood cell that acutely fights...

    Singing Parrot

That video cracks me up. It`s an Amazon parrot, probably Double yellow head or Yellow nape. We have those and one of ours sings the first verse of "Heard it through the grapevine" as well as "My girl". My Wife likes Motown, what can I say?!?!?!?!?

Cumari do Para vs Aji Charapita

I prefer Cumari do Para. The flavour overall is cleaner and a little more complex to my palate. Don`t get me wrong, Charapita are good, just not as good IMO.

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

The Chris Phillips Rare Seed Collection  at Puckerbutt. CP 330, 331, 332, 333. That`s red, yellow chocolate and peach. There is also a green one, but it`s out of stock. I highly recommend them!

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

That`s fantastic, thanks for posting. I do like those a lot, as well. Have you tried Jim Weaver`s Lightening Habaneros? Calling them Habaneros doesn`t do them justice. They are excellent for flavour and pretty damn warm and come in numerous colours. The chocolate ones are especially good.

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

Not sure if there`s a place on here appropriate for this type of thing. I`ve built a few Teles and a few Strats. My Tele is based on the 1950 Broadcaster down to flat head screws/bakelite pickguard, but better playability with 10" radius fretboard. I`m currently building a Strat based on the...

Damn it, caught out again  :liar:   Hey, you never know, I might learn some songs one day!

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

Obviously, you know your stomach best. I don`t have ulcers, but my stomach produces 10x the acid of a normal person (literally, it was tested). I find eating peppers high in capsaicin reduces that hugely and I don`t need to eat prilosec like candy. For some forms of ulcers and GERD they try to...

chinense Has anyone eaten a Ghost pepper (or equivilant) at once?

Hi Roberto. My favourite superhot for flavour is the Red 7-pot Jonah, followed closely by the Caramel Bhut. For out and out flavour alone I like Cumari do Para best, although the orange CGN 20800 is just as good, but much smaller (both available via Judy at Pepperlover). Cheiro roxa, Fidalgo...

I may have eaten one or two, LMAO!!! The dumb thing is I don`t regard Ghosts as especially hot anymore

NMSU researchers establish the genetic mutation that allows superhots to get so hot

I agree entirely, if they had the genetics tied up on a DNA level I`d be a lot more excited, but this is a quote from the article,   "Right now, we’re assuming this is a genetic mutation in super-hots because we’ve never seen this in wild chile peppers"

    ello from wiltshire UK!

:welcome:   Sounds like it`s Talk Like a Pirate Day, m`deer. I`m in San Diego USA, but I`m from Wigan. There are a few UK folks on here, including a bunch from Cornwall. Facebook is also a good source of contacts and there are a few UK growers Groups that also have others from all over the...

I`m sorry to say that when I grew out the seeds they were crossed, so sorry, I can`t help you. If I could I would!

NMSU researchers establish the genetic mutation that allows superhots to get so hot

Seems to me like something we`ve know for years is now "new". The fact that many superhot varieties have placental tissue throughout the interior of the pod is both clear and obvious and has been for many years. You can even peel it away from the flesh of the pepper, for f**ks sake.    So, to...

Hot Pepper Varieties for Cool, Maritime Climates.

Yes, it`s a nice-ish variety, but not on par with Scotch Bonnets for flavour. Very productive, though. I don`t think it`s any earlier than any of the bonnets I`ve grown. Most chinense need a longer season. I suspect you are over-thinking this. I know plenty of people in Minnesota, northern...

Hot Pepper Varieties for Cool, Maritime Climates.

Not knocking you at all, but it was found and taken from a Bangladeshi market in Dorset and re-named "Dorset Naga" It hasn`t been bred at all.   If your climate is similar to that of Cornwall, you can grow whatever you like. You`d be better off using a hoop house or greenhouse to extend the...

    Brazilian hot peppers

There are plenty available and new ones are showing up every year. I do not know of any Landrace superhots from Brazil, but the Brazilian growers are crazy for supers and doing a lot of hybridisation.    Check out Semillas.de and look primarily in the C.chinense and baccatum selections. It will...
